How is Silvio Dadic? Saw him in Melbourne and immediately thought "He'll have fangirls"

Gets annoying when you see these guys who are reasonably built, and attractive but then it becomes SO wrong when you notice they are in the Juniors draw. SOOO wrong. But hey when I'm 30 I will have a 'younger man' crush.:bolt:

From your description, Dadic sounds like a looker (no surprise there, though--he's Croatian, after all!). Any pictures of him?

No pictures  I think we were headed to another match when we saw him playing. You know, someone more age-appropriate. The first time we saw him he was just this random good looking guy walking around.

This is from someone's blog, and is a good indication of why we fangirlled. "It is just so unusual for two Junior players to have three head to head accounts in half a year. Watch out for Smith and Dadic, they will be former champions. And not to mention Dadic is good looking and very nice too."

The only current junior to watch is.. Borna Coric.
I saw him last year in Miami at the Junior Orange Bowl tournament, loosing the final in a tight 3 setter.
The kid has some serious potential, I have no doubts he will have a major breakthrough in his career.
He is one of the best if not THE BEST 14 yo junior. Many experts talk about him beeing a future star.

Just noticed that he won a G4 event in Mostar (dont know exactly where that is, but it´s his first junior title.)

I´ll definately have an eye on him.

yes, borna is big hope. interesting, his 1st junior tournament was in mostar last year. after his 1st win on junior tour (which was in february; he started with 0:4 what is absolutely normal for 13 old kid), which was in 3 sets he won 12 out 14 matches (semis, final and title in that order, all on G4). 11 of them was in 2 sets. after that semis he played his 1st futures where he easil won vs robert rumler who was around 700. spot on pro tour. rumler is one of the best player born in 1993 and he is height 1990. yes, people from tennis world says he is something special. but i wouldn't go so far, it would be fantastic if he could somehow break in top 10 one day. btw, his game is very similar to coria's and he is claycourter. his idol is nadal and dream to win a RG title.

Borna lost today from a 2.5 years older and 287 spots better ranked player. In 1/8 final from 16 players Borna was only one born in 1996 and another one player was born in 1995 (our Franko Miocic). All other players was 93.-94.With this win,I think that Borna will jump on about 350. place on junior rank next monday.

With just 1 win last week on tournament in Hungary,Borna is up to #327 (#399 last week) on the new junior rank. There is no younger boy that is better placed on the list.Only two that are close to him are:

#95 Gianluigi Quinzi (1.2.1996.)
#298 Ken Onishi (18.2.1996)

and they are 9 months older than Borna who is born at the end of 1996.He really is one of the best kids in the world in his age.

Borna won today in the 1st round of Torneo Dell Avenire against Gulyevskyy 6-2 6-2.

This tournament is considered for the unofficial clay world championship for players under-16.The list of past champions of this tournament is impressive: Del Potro , Monfils , Coria , Tipsarević , Ivanišević , Borg , Lendl , Cash.Čilić , Soderling and J.C.Ferrero were in the final....

actually, it's 9 months difference. rubin is great talent, one of the best of that generation, the best american prospect. he played final of les tarbes last year (U-14).it should to be tough for borna (atleast one set). Daniel Kerznerman was one of the best in U-12.

You are right for the age difference,my mistake. But looking on the results in this year it's obvious that Borna is much more successful than Rubin.

While Rubin played under-16 tournaments,Borna played under-18 tournaments on the G5, G4 and G2 level. On those tournaments he was once in semis, once in the final and once he was a winner. He has 12 victories on G levels in this year.

Rubin, on the other hand, has never even played a match on the G level.I'm not saying that he is not a talent, but difference is obvious.

Yes he has a good results but on very different category of tournaments then Borna.Borna is #327, Rubin don't even have a ranking yet although he is 9 months older than Borna. That's all I wanted to say.

Borna will play today a final match against Albert Alcaraz from Spain.Alcaraz is 1.5 year older than Borna. He is ranked #299.Interesting thing is that Alcaraz was given a WC for qualifications for masters in Madrid. He played against Igor Andrejev and lost 6-1 6-1.Alcaraz have already a pro ranking. He is #1562.

There are no great results from Alcaraz in this year.He played two G2 tournaments and lost both times in 1st round. He played one G3 tournament and lost again in 1st round.Only on G4 tournament he won one match.

Borna played against Alcaraz in 2009 in 1/4 finals of Les Petits As and won 6-0 6-2.

okramb
06-11-2011, 01:11 PM
Another interesting fact: If Borna wins today he will be the youngest champion on Torneo Dell Avenire in the last 35 years (maybe ever,I didn't look that far).Only two players that won this tournament before their 15 th birthday were: Juan Martin Del Potro in 2003 (14 years and 9 months) and Guillermo Perez-Roldan in 1984 (14 years and 8 months).

Borna is today 14 years and 7 months old.

Borna is in quaters of G3 in Tunisia. He won 1st round vs 2 and half years older british guy ranked in middle 400's easily (6:1, 6:1), while today he beated 1. seed in 2nd round, 2 and half years older american guy who is 134. in the world (6:3, 6:3). That is his 1st top 150 scalp, actually top 200 r top 250. H will ump from 327. to 279.And he will become 2nd ranked player of his generation (only Quinzi is better). So, he will be in top 300 for first time. If he win the whole thing, he will become top 200. He should win tommorow (opponent is ranked in middle 400's), than he could play vs 3rd seed (201.) who is 3 and half years older. He should get WC for G2 in Marocco which starts 4.7.2011. hey are playing on clay.

he is out of doubles draw. if he make a final he will be 86. but if he wins he will be 74.

th seed, 3 years older guy, some Brittish.
Borna is in 2nd round of doubles, too. He plays with Laslo Djere from Serbia.

I found how much Borna is high. He is around 183 cm or more.
I found one picture with him and Laslo Djere, who was 183 cm high in August or September (itf puts how much somebody is high when he make some result). And his pictures is from Yucatan where Borna is exactly high like Djere. Djere has 16 y and 5 months so he is maybe a little bit higher than he was in August or Semptember. So Borna is atleast 183, maybe even more.

He beated one top 400 (Joshua Milton, 4 years older) and one top 500 playe (Aldin Setkic, 7 years older) in last 10 days. Both of them were of the edge of breaking top 300 in last few months. This weak he was playing at some futures in Turkey. For 2nd time in his carrier he managed to pass qualies of some pro tournament and for first time he played 2nd round like a qualificier. He beat 4 year older Belgian he was top 500 two years ago and now he is top 1000. He lost today vs 4 years oder Tomislav Brkic of Bosnia 4:6, 7:5, 6:3 (he is at carrier high #530). Last time they played before 3 months and Filip took only 6 games. With this result Filip will be at carrier high (in mid 1300).

On offical site of Copa Yucatan you will find Borna's picture. On 21st of November with Laslo Djere down the flag of Serbia (normal mistake for country from other continent, they even put yugoslavian flag with star hahaha), there you can see how big Borna really is because Djere is 183 cm (he was 183 cm in August or September because in that time he made his pro debut and first big result on junior level and they fill high section only when somebody make some big result) or more and Borna is 2 or 3 cm's smaller. You have one more picture at 22nd of November (it is 24th and 26th pictures with Borna).

Veger has played qualie of another futures in Antalya these days. He demolished Checz Kobza (that is same guy who beated Coric this year) yesterday. Today he has played vs 15 months older US Open champion British Oliver Golding (currently #3 in the world, CH #2). He lost 5:7, 6:7 (2). It's nice to know he is on same level like junior GS champion. This was his 7th match in last 9 days, while Golding has played 4 matches in last 7 days. And I think he would won ih he had more days for recover from previous tournament. There will be 2 new futures in Antalya in December but there is no Veger on the acceptance list. Pitty. So this was probably his last (pro) match in this season.

He is from Split. After Domagoj Biljesko he is the best prospect from Croatia born 1997. But both of them are nothing special, especially Lozic. He is just average.

Borna is space shuttle for them. He is great talent and he will be high which is very very important. But he needs to go to some big academy if he wants to be real star. He should do that few years ago but even now it's isn't to late. With trainings in Croatia he will be just around top 100.

Borna won 6:2, 6:2 vs Edward Nguyen of Canada, next one is 2.5 half older #8 seed Chinese Xin Gao (#30, career high). Borna should win this. Clay is his surface while Chinese probably doesn't know to walk on clay. And his position isn't realistic because he made all his points in Asia.
Borna could make great result here (quaters or more) because this is on red clay. I am sure he would do it if the recent tournaments held on clay.
From this year Orange Bowl is on clay.

Did you guys know that Nguyen was Orange Bowl U-14 runner-up (just like Borna one year ago) 2008? But Borna is already top 75 in juniors while 2 and half years older Canadian is #151, and was #117 at his best.

I didn't check the draw. If he win he will probably play vs Coppejanes. So, it will be tough. Coppejeans is solid belgian talent. He has played alot of tight matches or sets vs top juniors. He never won but gave a trouble to them.

I wondering how on the earth Eddie Herr held on clay when we saw there were playing on hard. Only if we watched wrong matches, but there is some umpires so it was the tournament.

Nice to see that. Borna has showed he can play and beat players of that caliber: Krstin, Coppejans, Gao. Players who are around #30 and who are more than 2 years older.
I overrated Coopejans, it's obvious Borna can beat him. It's mistake to say "he can't beat this guy" like I did when acctualy we don't know his limits. You can't know for such young and up coming guy.
However, great end of the year and great season for him.

On the Orange Bowl site they wrote that Borna is clay specialist, they wrote that in one article about him in Slobodna Dalmacija 3 year ago too (http://www.slobodnadalmacija.hr/Tenis/tabid/86/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/39002/Default.aspx) but he is actually as same good on all surfaces (maybe a little bit better on clay) just like all modern players. I am happy we finally have a player of a biggest talent who's strenght is from back line.

I look forward to if itf will put information about his heigh after this tournament, but like I said he is around 182 cm.

Interesting is that Borna on next monday will have 385 points while Quinzi had 131.5 points when he was 15 y, 1 m old. Quinzi gained 385 points when he was 15 y, 5 m, 17 d old. And that Quinzi was higher and stronger at that time, was in Nick Bolletieri's academy and whole tennis world says "he is new big thing, really something special", such a big hype. But Borna owned him in U-14. They played few times and Borna always beat him easily.
He will be better ranked on new list than Milojevic was one year ago, too. And he is younger half year than Milojevic was.
Beside that, Quinzi and Milojevic were playing in Central America and Asia in easy competition while Borna was playing in the hardiest possible (Europe and these tournaments).
Sorry guys I made some parallels beetween them but it's good to know where he is to best young juniors. So he is actually the best among of them!

Good luck in the new year!!!

Thanks God somebody mentioned Filip's results. He deserved it.
I just waited for this.

He just beat Morgan. He gave to him just one single game!!! Morgan beat 3rd seeded Timo Nieminen of Finland (#315) in straights yesterday. He won Wimbledon doubles with Pavic last year. He is really climbing well in pro's.

Veger is on 10 sets win strike. He will be around 1039th spot in new rankings.
Next one is Jan Minar (#374). If he win next match he will be around 884th spot.

There are three Croats among the last 16 at the G1 Perin/Umag this week:

+ Filip VEGER (#8 seed)
+ Franko MIOCIC (#16 seed)
+ Domagoj BILJESKO

Anyone know who this kid Biljesko is? He's come out of nowhere this week. He's only 14 , he's unranked and this is his first tournament. In R32 he beat the #5 seed and world #54 Marterer in straights

This week Domagoj Biljesko is at #230. He was born in June 1997; there are only five players ranked higher who are younger. Sounds very promising...

Nino Serdarusic, born Dec '96, is at his CH ranking this week: #58.

At Osaka GA this week, he's into the R16 in singles and in doubles, which will give him a new CH ranking. If he wins his next singles match, he'll enter the top 50 next week.

Nino is now at #52. This week he's into the singles and doubles SF at the G1 in Mexico, so next week he'll move up to at least ~#44. At that point, there will be only eight players who are younger and ranked higher.

Won the doubles SF. He and partner are the top seeds, and will play the #3 seeds in the final.

...but lost the singles SF

Still, a successful week for Nino. He was the #5 seed in singles, so he did well to reach the SF. Next week he'll get a new CH ranking and break into the top 50 for the first time.

When the 1995 boys drop off the rankings at the beginning of the year, Nino should be ranked around #25.

Also, he has very few points to defend until July.

Nino Serdarusic up 11 spots to #41, a new CH ranking. Well done :yeah:

Only eight players are younger and ranked higher.

He's playing Eddie Herr this week, where he's the #16 seed in singles (whew!) and #5 in doubles.

Since I last posted about him (June 2013), Domagoj has moved up to #62. There are only 14 players ranked higher who are younger.

In his last five tournaments, going back to September, he has won two singles titles (both G4's only, though). In doubles, he has won his last two tournaments (both G2s) and has an 8-match win streak.

Domagoj Biljesko won his first professional match yesterday, at the Zagreb $15K.

He lost today in R2 but took the #5 seed, Dubarenko (#332), to three sets. Not bad.

Mate Pavic

Duje Kekez
http://www.rustennisplayers.ru/images/EJC_2009/Kekez.html

...and here we are four and a half years later. They're both 20 years old now. Pavic has gone as high as #295 in singles (but #415 now) and #54 in doubles (also his current ranking).

Kekez has gone as high as #560 in singles (#592 now). Interestingly, he won this week's Croatia F ($10K):

+ In R2 he beat Ignatik (#278, CH #137) 63 64
+ In the SF he beat Lizariturry (#320) also 63 64
+ In the F he crushed Granollers-Pujol (#228) 61 61

Excellent week for Duje :yeah: Second singles title ever and he did it without losing a set, against some tough opposition.

He plays again in Croatia next week. Good luck!
