I hope this gets televised. It seems like a fun matchup. Murray made Roddick looked braindead at Wimbledon this year. So I expect Murray to win in 4 against the only Atp player, to play with a lobotomy. :devil:

I think gonzo will win but murray will run him close imo - Murray put in a decent performance in basel and he has come on miles since then.

I am a bit gutted in one respect because I think gonzo is one of only 4-5 players in better form over hardcourt season than murray

I was so excited for Murray for this USO until I saw the draw and realised he wouldn't make it past the 3rd round. Only one round better than last year. I almost wish he hadn't been seeded this high :shrug:.

Yep agreed - Personally Gonzalez and possibly Berdych were the only potential 3rd round opponents that I didnt fancy him playing. Not saying he would have beaten everyone else but I would fancy the chances.

The only thing that may help is his drive - His oponent last night thrashed him last year and that is partially why his focus was so intense last night. Gonzalez although it went to 3 sets smashed him in set 3 last year and I think that may drive him, he relishes being an underdog

I suspect Murray will beat Gonzo as he'll get the best how-to plan money can buy. Regarding fitness, Murray's not there yet and although he beat a tired Federer in Cincy he by no means blew him off the court. Those two sets against Federer cost Murray his next round match.

Murray's on a path to physical fitness with Gilbert. This will help him with his mental fitness as well.

hmm... hard to predict... I would put it this way - if Murray starts well, he finishes well. That might happen here. Longer matches give Gonzo a handicap - he's more experienced and mentally stable

Well, on seeing the draw I expected Gonzo to win but now I'm not so sure. I think the key thing is Murray has total belief in himself now. I can see Gonzo getting frustrated at Murray's consistent service returning and movement around the court. Could be a five set classic (played over 3 days because of the weather!).
