OMFG. I'm gonna be able to watch it!!! I REALLY hope that BOTH players bring both their game and their brain (a little too much, but hey, a guy can dream right? ;) ) If both bring both, it will be a CLASSIC epic 5 setter. :)

Thats freakin sweet. And let's not even think about Ollie...DAVAI MARAT!!!!! Kick his ass...PLEASE!!!

They're both my two of my faves (just look in my sig). There's no way I can pull for either one. Safin didn't play last year so every win is a step up in the rankings. But if Nalby loses before the 1/4's, ol Ljube Job will increase his lead for #3.

Can the womens match before it last like 2 hours so that I can get home in time to see this? :awww:

NOOOOOOOOO. I'd rather see this on the Grandstand than at Arthur Ashe...

But then I work tomorrow and I could go to the night session, even if they look like ants. What are the chances that Safin will advance to play on Sunday at the Grandstand?

I wanna watch this match. Since im going to tomorrow's day session (why the hell did they have to put marat on ashe at night! :o ) i'm planning to buy tix for the night session....but my problem is i dont want to buy tix to find out that the match has been cancelled because of stupid rain...:help: I hate this...I hope the forecast changes tomorrow...they should just put Marat on Armstrong or Davenport on Armstrong so the men can start at 7pm.

Matt Cronin's Picks: Day 5 of USO

4-DAVID NALBANDIAN V. MARAT SAFIN

The popcorn match of the day, with 2000 US champion Safin trying to find the once-stellar form that made him the world’s top-ranked player. He’ll really have to earn his stripes against Nalbandian, who has had an awful summer on hard courts, but who showed in reaching the 2003 US semifinals and knocking over Roger Federer for the 2005 TMS Shanghai crown, that he can play of the stuff.

This contest pits arguably the tour’s most entertaining off-court personality (Safin) and the game’s most sour-pussed one. While Nalbandian can be thrilling to watch when he’s mixing slight-of-hand tactics with brute power, he’s a brooder, and brooders don’t put behinds in the seats. When he smiles, it’s usually when he’s mocking someone.

If Safin is serving big, staying firm from the back court and taking advantage of his opportunities at the net, he can win this match. But he’s way too inconsistent now, his torn-up knee is still sore and Nalbandian knows just how to play him -- survive as long as possible and then tempt him into over-hitting. Take Nalbandian in five nail-biting sets.

Does anyone have any idea what time this match will start? Bcoz I have to wake up in the middle of the night just to watch this. ;)

It's been bumped off Arthur Ashe by none other than SharafawkinPova.
Ofcourse, it happens to also be scheduled simultaneously with Agassi.

The most hyped match of the summer will go unseen.
This place should be in uproar. Wtf is going on?

Besides, weather will be bad again tomorrow so maybe we will see this match, probably on Sunday.
