One would think that La Lopez would build on his huge win over Ljubicic, but eh. On the other hand, this is a great win for Marco! The Swiss have done really well today in closely fought matches! :D

EDIT: Oops! :smash:

Ok, I think this has to be the last straw. Feliciano, I finally know how to quit you.

Two Swiss into the third round of the US Open after epic five-set comebacks, and neither is named Federer. This is pretty encouraging ahead of the DC play-offs against Serbia.

And that after last year. What an amazing comeback. Ranked outside the Top 700 at the start of the year and then this! Not profiting from many WCs! Doing it all on his own merit. Awesome job and soon he will top his best ever ranking I hope! :D

honestly, though. I just hate to see that much talent wasted. And I was looking forward to seeing feli on my tv v. gasquet.

I am really upset. so much so that I'm ordering pizza for dinner; I'm too depressed to cook. (that's my excuse, at least).

i am not surprised at all. My exact quote after he beat Ivan was "Now just don't lose in the next round :o"

I said that though not knowing he was playing Marco so i'm actually quite happy :bounce: Huge breakthrough for him just to qualify but to get to the third round is huge

I really don't get why so many people love to hate on Feliciano. It isn't as though he was majorly hyped or expected to be the best player ever? I just don't get it.

If it's because he loses so much, then why does Josh Olivas have so many fans and escape this type of hate?

He´s probably the most overhyped player in Spanish tennis history, is it enough now?

I totally agree. It's so childish--and I'd bet that 99% of those vitriolic haters are (jealous) straight guys.

Unlike Kournikova--who actually seemed like an airhead as well as a diva--Feli seems like a genuinely nice, humble guy.

It's hard to be a feli fan.

Lube must feel stupid.

Doubt it. Luby said himself that he didn't believe Lopez would get far, because he (Lopez) lacks consistency. Now I'm sure some of genuises here consider that 'badmouthing', but as we can see, he was spot on.

Too bad for Feli, though. Head is the main thing in tennis, proved n-th time... that's where Nadal shines. Of them youngsters I think Nole has an iron will as well, that could get him far.
