Broken while serving for the 2nd set with a 5-0, 40-0 lead  but other than that hiccup, routine win. A bagel was always on the cards after Fed got broken that way and sure enough... ;)

Disappointing performance I guess from Yeu-Tzuoo, who is a really nifty player. He is having trouble having his actual breakthrough though.

Roger :rocker: Rock on.

But I agree. I'd rather have seen the end of Tojo-Grosjean or the Monfils match. Good start for Federer though!

Federer's backhand in this match was incredible and he was hitting winners with it all over. His forehand, though is still be a bit off.

Interesting. It would be ironic if Fed's backhand became more of a weapon.

poor Wang

I do not feel sorry for Wang, he is a wimp. They interviewed him before the match started and he was so scared he could hardly talk. He defaulted before the match started and brought that terrible scorline on himself. He either needs to cowboy up or get out of professional sports...

Pity that Roger didn't bagel him also in the 2nd. Now people will say that Federer is in crisis and it's the beginning of an end of the great champion :D:D:D

Roger's brutal: almost every time somebody breaks him, they end up paying the price by getting bageled. He puts the squeeze on them like a boa constrictor and kills them softly. And then opponents walk off the court saying, "Yes sir, may I have another!"

Anyway, Roger got his match in today so the Fedfans can relax now and quit complaining so much about the scheduling.

English is definitely not his native language. Never in his life played in a stadium this size and in front of TV like this. What do you expect of him? Moreover, he needed a trainer in 2nd set.

I guess many ATP players need to get out too then.

I don`t know, that "BOA" was the helpless mouse during the clay season and father Tony could not rescue him. And 2-6 against Rafa, 1-2 on hardcourts including a 6-3, 6-3 beatdown in Miami, 04, whooa... ;)

It really was. He was dictating points like it was a steady two-handed bh with dtl BH's that weren't necessarily being hit for winners but being hit deep about 12-20 inches from the baseline and about a foot or two away from the sideline. That shot was constantly drawing the reach FH's into the middle of the court for the FH put away. The FH was a bit off today as you said.

There was nothing he could do that was going to prevent the scoreline if Federer played reasonably well. His serve is not big enough to get him enough free points, and his groundstrokes can't move Federer. It's not about being timid or being a wimp.

I feel pretty spoiled to be angry about a lost serve at 5:0 40:0 in the 2nd set  . Wang played quite good in the first set, but he couln't hold his level.

Here is the definition I got for Wang:

2. A slap; a blow. [Prov. Eng.] --Halliwell.

Wikipedia to the rescue: "'Wang' is a slang term for the penis, primarily in North America and the UK. Certain dictionaries list this under whang, which may be a variant or the source of the word wang."

If you look up "whang", you find it in the OED and AHD, and presumably other major dictionaries. I knew the word; I just didn't know why it wasn't coming up.

whang[1]
–noun Informal.
1. a resounding blow.
2. the sound produced by such a blow: the whang of gongs and cymbals.
–verb (used with object)
3. to strike with a resounding blow.

4. to resound with such a blow.

whang[2]

1. a thong, esp. of leather.
2. Also called thong leather. rawhide.
3. Slang (often vulgar). penis.
