Marat in 4... Nalby was complete and utter crap today

True but it's another day and another match. Nalby just saves it up for the important ones.

And to whomever said Safin will eat "an unfit" Nably. Nalbandian just came back from 2 sets down to win in 5 - about 3 1/2 hours and he got better with each set - hardly unfit. And that's not the first time he's done that this year. Unfit in the brain, maybe, but not unfit physically.

I have no idea after Nalbandian's sorry display in the first 2 sets against Berrer. I just hope he tightens up his game and that Marat can keep it together so we have a match worthy of both of them.

The Nalbandian change of direction won't allow Safin to camp on the backhand side.
Nalbandian should really play comfortably off the pace, and dominate Safin's one-dimensional game.

I think Safin will break down after the first set. Unable to stay in longer rallies.

I believe in Marat more whenever he faces an 'elite' player rather than a nobody or someone lower-ranked with much reason I guess...Marat is more motivated to beat top ranked guys and show what he is capable of. Whatever happens, Marat will try to be there. He's got a great shot obviously to win.

A potentially mouthwatering prospect.

I say "potentially" because there is always a veneer of doubt with these two about wether they come out onto the court with their brains intact (particularly Safin).

However, if both play up to their potential it should be an awesome match

?

I didn't even notice he was tired, let alone dying. Berrer was the one who had more problems as the match progressed.

Anyway, I can't wait. Both of them are capable of playing sublime tennis, but both of them can also produce a total crapfest from time to time. Lets hope they do the best... and hope eurosport doesn't switch to girls too often

This is going to be a TOUGH match for me to watch bcoz I LUUUURRVVVVV both of them! I want Safin to win bcoz he hasn't been playing for a while bcoz of injuries and I think he hasn't won a title since AO05. On the other hand, I want Nalbandian to win bcoz he's #4 in the world and he deserves to get a GS. And it's heartbreaking if he loses in the 2nd round after that comeback in the 1st round. Geeeezzzz, this is so hard!

Safin should win IMO, not only because he has Nalbandian's number (the only defeat he suffered was in that RG match when he had blisters in both hands), but also judging by both guys' performances in the last couple of months.

But surely it could go either way.

Safin will look brilliant at first winning the first two sets, then Nalby will make one of his patented comebacks winning sets 3 & 4. The 5th is up in the air. Flip a coin.

Who knows? With Marat, it depends on what is going through his head on a particular day. When he lost his last match in LA, he just phoned in the final set. I don't think that he would have any problem pulling the same stunt at a Grand Slam event, because he was fined for lack of effort at the Australian Open in 2001. If Nalbandian gets up two sets on him, its over.
