Poor Berrer, he had two game-points for a 5-2 lead in the 4th set :( but David is hard to put away.

Is this the 3rd or 4th match Nalbandian has won from 2 sets to love down in the last year. And people say he is unfit.

I don't think anyone said he was unfit. He looks unfit.

I am really looking forward to the Nalby - Safin match.

Please let them both bring their brain to the match.

He's unfit to win a GS. Not unft to beat an unknown player in a first-round match.
David, you'd better try to play tennis in the next match.

A lot of people assume that just because a player is talented he is always going to be on. Nalbandian seems to have more bad days than anyone, but it is not always because he is not focused. Sometimes, nothing works.

He was trying in this one and never game up. Berrer went up 4-2 in the 4th and had a couple of game points, but Nalbandian battled back.

Hopefully Nalbandian/Safin will be a night match, but fat chance of that happening.

This is why Dave is always beat by the second week.

More likely is that neither will bring their brain to the match :o

Nalbandian hung in there and managed to get the win reasonably comfortably in the fifth.

But I concur - it's this sort of 1st round why David always runs out of gas or gets injured in the second week of a slam. He can go the distance in several matches and get the wins but the more he takes out early, he can't refill his energy levels right back up and so by the QFs, SFs the tank is nowhere near as full as it needs to be when he needs to get stuck in and fight hard.

Of course, he may not have to worry about that.

Safin looked quite sharp today for the most part, David looked like he struggled a lot until the fifth set, and David has a lousy H2H against Marat so an unsurprising upset could be on the cards.

I saw huge parts of this match, it was not the most exciting stuff. Berrer playing quite okay, Nalbandian struggled a lot. At the end, superior fitness and way more experience in such situations carried Nalbandian through this match.

BTW, I liked how Nalbandian kicked his chair at one situation when he was angry about himself, it looked great!
