Wow that's really funny.

Guille stop being so fucking stubborn and take some time away from tennis to get your shoulder sorted (and your head) :(

sorry for him and his fans

I hope he takes off long enough and finally returns healthy again some time

Damn...he has taken most of the year off.... I hope he can get everything pieced back together...sooner rather than later...

It's not the shoulder, it's apparently a leg injury this time, according to the Argentinian newspapers.

I sort of like Coria. He's really....evil, the way he narrows his eyes like he genuinely dislikes his opponent. He's fun to watch. I hope he gets healthy again - I'm truly sorry, Coria fans.

That's not so funny. Coria had to withdraw with an injury that may be serious.

It's in Spanish, but I understand he slipped on the court during the 2nd game of the match.

All the people who have seen him practicing in NY said he looked fine before the match.
It might be pure bad luck.

Well at least one young "American" won his match.

I wonder if when they mention this result they will say that Sweeting is from Bahamas and not the USA.

He is from both nations and now plays for the U.S. As for Young, Coria may not have slipped if he played him. Coria woud have not made the sam movements as he did for this match . It was a freak accident but it is good to see Sweeting make it to the 2nd round.

sorry to say this but if he keeps on like this he should retire an play the merrill lynch tour of champions, since he reached a gs final, he might have a chance there to win a few matches

I understand he slipped on the court during the 2nd game of the match.

All the people who have seen him practicing in NY said he looked fine before the match.
It might be pure bad luck.thats what it was indeed. i was sitting with carla & de la pena and asked if he had any trouble with the leg before the match and they said no, it just happened right here. it was a groin pull, for the record.

he was very good actually in the match and went up 2-0 before he slipped and started limping. he asked the trainer to get him another pair of shoes at that point hoping to get more support for his leg, but it just got worse and he stopped being able to chase the ball, so he called for the trainer...

he really was playing fine and would have done quite well. in the short time of play, he hit some gorgeous passing shots and made almost no errors...was a bit tight but it was just the start of the match & that is to be expected. they worked very hard in practice earlier this week, and he did look quite steadied and prepared.

but how heartbreaking to have another moment of bad luck in such a dark year, but the year will soon be over and behind him. i dont think he should not have played or was not ready...still, he was so helpless when he just put the towel over his head and sunk into his chair...i think he just couldnt believe it. all you can say is put this year in a dumpster, the cards have just been unkind.

Ryan :bounce:
yep, that was a big quality performance by him! he deserves heaps of praise.

there is such a thing as celebrating a player's results in a way which actually detracts from their accomplishment...like gloating over a double fault. or in this case, a de-fault.

but i'm glad you're glad hes not going home just yet. ;)

Coria . I'm not necessarily a fan of his, but it's sad to see such a great player like him in this kind of form. I hope he gets all these naggig injuries sorted out (as well as his head!) and comes back strong next year.

You want me to not be happy for Ryan because Coria called it quits? Sorry, but no. I'm thrilled Ryan is in the second round and there is nothing wrong with me celebrating that.

maybe everyone should just quit so he can be us open champion. that would be rewarding.
