Ever Thrown A Racquet?

07-28-2006, 07:20 AM
Have you ever thrown your racquet? I've never thrown one; I pride myself on being mentally tough during matches. However, after reading The Inner Game of Tennis, my game improved a ton.

I said 11-20, probably is more though. I don't know. When I was younger I used too quite a bit. But now I don't really... :)

Never for me, number 1 because it really achieves nothing because then afterwards you have to go and pick it up and to me it looks a bit silly, and also because i dont want to chip the paint (sad but tru!!! )

Throwing a racket is very different from breaking a racket. I have dinged rackets numerous times, but not at all lately to be honest. I broke my first racket in a tight match in July/August 2004, and since then have broken (I think) a total of about 6 or 7 . It is not a problem, and as I said, it is not something that causes me problems in matches, and I rarely even throw bats now.

Too many time for me, I imagine I must be up there in the 100+ range, I threw it today 3 times too, I have gotten better at controlling myself but I have been playing so bad lately that I had too, lol.

In my late teen's and early 20's.

Then I matured.

Don't confuse defending myself against the asshats on this site with anything but that wiseguy.

(Ironic you'd make that post to validate my claim, isn't it?)

07-30-2006, 01:36 AM
i always do it, but i take care at throwing it or hitting it against the net so that i won't break it :)

08-30-2006, 05:03 AM
only when i have a lot of preassure or when i break down, feels horrible if you think about it, i lost a match on purpose once, i could easyli leave this guy 6-0 in this tournament case could have been 8-0 i was winning 5-1 i started missing shots, then i said if this guys ties me i really dont know what i said i felt so mad, i threw the racquet and finally i lost, yea i know, ill never throw it again, my friend here, has broke 2 racquets, hell never get to a good level, he only thinks about making hella strong shots, misses 99.98 of them, he throws it everytime he looses a point, most of the times, he broke 2, and told his parents it was cause of a smash, give me a break, he got this ncode umm the orange one, its not to like show off or something but i made him break the first one, and last week i made this awesome crosscourt shot to his backhand, dam it was awesome, he did like a safin throw lol, first tossed it and then smashed on the ground, i feel bad but who cares lol im good :)

Yep, plenty of times, but more so in my younger years but I do have a racket in my bag especially for throwing. I have to make it to my bag first, but usually by that time i've cooled off :)

I have to soooo control myself not to throw my Wilson nSix-Two around - I can't afford a new one.

When I had that 10€ raquet back in the days it spent more time flying than hitting balls.

Yes, I'm a hothead.

09-20-2006, 01:49 AM
I did for the first time the other day, but it wasn't as much a "throw" as a drop.

Used to launch them all the time when I was sponsored and didn't have to pay for them but now that I gotta pay for them much less but old habits die hard tho.

I hardly ever throw during matches, now when I practice... But I have stopped throwing them, it might be 1 or 2 times a month.

09-26-2006, 03:15 AM

they're expensives to be affording one with much frecuence

09-26-2006, 01:32 PM
I voted 1-5 because I thought it was for breaking a racket

I have broken 2 already although I dont consider myself an angry player

and the funny thing is that both times the rackets broke were on clay

10-17-2006, 02:54 AM
i thought it when i miss a big point or im not playing well, but i never throught it to hard.

10-21-2006, 01:58 AM
Yeah, i would probably go 500+, i can be a mental wreck on the court sometimes.

10-21-2006, 02:01 AM
I have the "poor man's throw." Daintily, ever so gingerly, it leaves my hands and flutters down to the court, because I know I can't afford another one. :rolls:

10-25-2006, 01:05 AM
I chose 500+ although it could be 499 too.

I have broken three rackets, in 1997, 2001 and 2005. Notice the pattern?

When I was a broke-ass college kid, I learned to do a throwing motion that actually spun the entire racquet in the air and then id catch it and grip it as hard as possible. Throw real hard, catch/grip real hard. Then move on, knowing you j7ust saved a wad of cash you can spend on Ramien noodles.

11-03-2006, 05:18 PM
'500+ (I'm related to Safin)' :haha: :haha:

No, I don't break/throw racquets.

Me too :)

11-04-2006, 08:49 PM
Oh yes I throw it sometimes. But not often and not so hard because I don´t want to break it ;)

11-17-2006, 12:04 AM
I once shattered a racquet into 16 pieces.

I never did it. Rackets are expensive and it's not polite to your opponent.
When I'm furious, I just say MERDA (crap, or something like that).
I like talking at court, as I play with friends, maybe people around (playing at neighborhood, I play at public courts) don't like it, but I have fun! And I try to :tape: (do not disturb!)

I'm pretty calm person in life. But on court....Different story.

01-15-2007, 05:41 PM
I once threw a racket across four courts. That racket flew and when it landed it was still intact. How awesome is that?

01-28-2007, 09:15 PM
I recently broke a racquet, about a week ago playing against my dad. I was that frustated...I never do it but this time i did it and it broke....180 dollars that won't come back I'm still pissed about it. Never throw your racquets kids, they're expensive.

01-28-2007, 09:23 PM
I broke a couple when I was younger, maybe 14 or 15 years old. I used to be a little McEnroe but have managed to now control my temper!

Same for me, I was horrible when I was younger. I´m calmer now, but when I play against my brother, it´s still pretty intense...:)

I'm more like Haas, I keep screaming like a lunatic, but I never broke a racquet. I rarely throw it around, I just try to focus and hit my head with the stringbed.

01-29-2007, 07:25 PM
no, I wasn't not allowed to 4A Division high school tennis and division 3 college tennis.

01-30-2007, 07:12 PM
I've thrown a racquet so many times... I broke one racquet by throwing it.

02-02-2007, 05:22 PM
I broke 5 racquets already by smashing them.

when I was 11 I smashed my first one because my parents told me they will only buy me new racquet if my old one is broken,so I told them a lie it slipt from my hand.

02-02-2007, 05:24 PM
thrown many times

broke only 2

02-02-2007, 05:49 PM
