Agassi will win
Agassi vs SafinMane 01-27-2004, 11:43 AM Agassi will win Billabong 01-27-2004, 11:46 AM Hmmm... some people say Safin was a bit injured, but he still played fantastic last night and he has his chances... but I would say Agassi has the edge, I don't think he's tired and he's really confident... but we never know what can happen out there!!! Good luck and success to both players!:)! GO!!! Vass 01-27-2004, 11:46 AM Safin all the way!!! Agassi, like Roddick, made a mistake of playing only easy matches. No way Andre is prepared for Marat. WyverN 01-27-2004, 11:47 AM I voted I dont know If I was forced to choose I would choose Safin because of fatigue but on the other hand Agassi is almost 10 years older Mane 01-27-2004, 11:49 AM Agassi is the strongest in Melbourne. renatoal 01-27-2004, 11:51 AM SAfin !!!! GOOO!! J. Corwin 01-27-2004, 11:54 AM I don't know. But I'll be behind Andre, as if you didn't know that. ;) Tennis Fool 01-27-2004, 11:57 AM Agassi has a comfortable H2H, 3:1. Plus, he's long in less hours and he always is strongest at the beginning of the season. I forgot (or maybe I didn't know :o ) that an 18-year-old Marat had bumped Agassi out of the 1st rd. of the 1998 French Open... They haven't played each other in 3 1/2 years, so it should be good if Marat isn't too pooped. Who knows? If Ferrero could log in the same amount of time and beat Agassi on hardcourts at the US Open... Kiara 01-27-2004, 11:59 AM Depends on how much Marat has left in the tank, he looked positively exhausted by the 5th set of todays match...I hope he gets to the finals and makes up for the disaster that was the 2002 final! MisterQ 01-27-2004, 12:02 PM I haven't seen the roddick/safin match yet, so I can't comment on Marat's condition or form (except that he obviously is doing something right, lol!) Andre was striking the ball awfully well in that first set against Grosjean. When he's playing like that, only a handful of people can stop him. However, I think Marat is one of those "handful." Marat has what it takes to beat Andre, but the question is whether he can sustain a high enough level for that long a time. Hope it will be a good match! Go Andre!!! Aurora 01-27-2004, 12:15 PM Marat's sure gotta turn it up, Andre isn't gonna make the errors Roddick did. But Andre won't serve like Andy. I don't know, but I'm hoping for a great battle! Go Marat!! Do the same in the Comeback Year as in the Breakthrough Year! Kiara 01-27-2004, 12:28 PM yay Maratski 2004 "The Year Of the Comeback Kid" safinagirly 01-27-2004, 12:40 PM hope that marat will win he deserve it Leena 01-27-2004, 01:00 PM Andre in straights. Marat is going to have to play absolutely perfect tennis to beat Andre on this surface. asotgod 01-27-2004, 01:43 PM Marat should win. Agassi is not invincible although most people here think he is on the Rebound Ace. Marat has all it takes to destroy Agassi. Forget the H2H, Marat lost most matches because he choked but if he is ready to play, it will take someone of equal ability to beat him. Nan Cu 01-27-2004, 01:55 PM I hope he gets to the finals and makes up for the disaster that was the 2002 final! Who Andre? Indeed. Go Marat!! Do the same in the Comeback Year as in the Breakthrough Year! Yeah, win the USO. tangerine_dream 01-27-2004, 02:22 PM Ooooh, wonder if we'll get another exciting five setter? :bounce: I'm behind Andre, as always. :worship: Pink Panther 01-27-2004, 02:28 PM As much as I want Safin to reach the finals, his fatigue is definitely a factor so I think Agassi's goin' to win. :awww: sigmagirl91 01-27-2004, 02:29 PM I'll give the edge to Agassi in that matchup. Ma. Estefania 01-27-2004, 02:33 PM I don't know yet, I haven't watched Marat's match ag. Roddick yet; then after watching it I'll probably give an answer..... But it definitely should be tight....Agassi is Agassi, and Marat defeated Roddick...wow... Though I deeply want Marat to win, I don't know. Lucie 01-27-2004, 03:22 PM i would love marat to win, but i doubt he has it in him physically, he must be absolutely drained Aurora 01-27-2004, 03:52 PM Yeah, win the USO. hmmm, I was thinking 1998, Roland Garros RebelNYC 01-27-2004, 03:56 PM I think this will be a TOUGH match, Safin, he is TOUGH, but GO ANDRE! I think this Australian Open has always been magic for Andre! For sure, it will be a REALLY good match! GO ANDRE! Rosa Luxembourg 01-27-2004, 04:25 PM If it's a night match or the weather is cold, Marat might have a slight chance. Otherwise, it's Agassi's. TheBoiledEgg 01-27-2004, 04:58 PM It will be a night match both semis are night Andre vs Marat on Thursday night other SF Friday night Crazy_Fool 01-27-2004, 05:21 PM These 2 have not played for a long time! Now that Lleyton is out, gotta cheer for Andre. I like Marat as well but not as much! I dont know how much Saf has left in the tank, he was looking really exhausted which is understandable. Still, i just hope for a good match. 26 undefeated down under for Agassi, i mean that is incredible. faboozadoo15 01-27-2004, 05:37 PM i think agassi will win. much fresher, much better return. and his serve has held up very nicely this fortnight. Ma. Estefania 01-27-2004, 09:10 PM Now that I could already watch the match....it's even more difficult to predict a winner between these 2. It's great to see that Marat is getting back; but definitely those about 14 hours that he has played so far during the whole tournament might be a decisive factor... Sjengster 01-27-2004, 09:27 PM I wouldn't call Agassi a much better returner; it's true that he's more consistent, but when Safin gets hot on the returns he can drill them just as accurately and with more pace too. Crazy_Fool 01-27-2004, 10:01 PM I wouldn't call Agassi a much better returner; it's true that he's more consistent, but when Safin gets hot on the returns he can drill them just as accurately and with more pace too. Safin is a very good returner but no way is he near Agassi in that department. Never. Andre returns serves that i would never think possible to return. And if someone is more consistent that makes them better as well. Safina_22 01-27-2004, 10:04 PM I hope Marat... But Agassi is legend and marat maybe tired after all those long matches... Anything can happen....it's tennis baby Everybody was thinking Roddick was going to win and now who will face Agassi is my beloved Marat. I vote for you my hot russian GGGGGGGGOOOOOO Marat! the cat 01-27-2004, 10:48 PM I'm rooting for Safin. But Marat has to be exhausted from all his time on the court. Thus I think Agassi will win the match in 4 sets. Udachi Marat! :D JeLuliA88 01-27-2004, 11:35 PM It's hard to say.... Agassi is playing so well but soz Marat. The only difference is the court time each have spent on court, Safin has played twice as much as Agassi but at the same time that is giving him match toughness... from the roddick match, u can see how safin has improved soo much mentally, he didn't lose concentration, he just stuck in there and fought it out. i think if Marat isn't too worn out from the roddick match, he will have the firepower to beat agassi, like some said, he's not invincible. Hope Marat wins and go one better than 2002 :) Bubble 01-28-2004, 03:04 AM I think Marat can win this match as he is fitter than ever and the 10 yr age difference is the equaliser against the time they have spent on court. Go Marat! Leo 01-28-2004, 04:15 AM I think Safin might be tired (all his matches in this tournament have been gruelling 4 or 5-setters), and Agassi will grind him down in 4. But only to lose to Nalbandian/Federer in the final. ;) rogicomel 01-28-2004, 05:35 AM Marat in 4. | |
