Shocking: Scud ousted

OK, having just watched the second and third set of the Arazi - Philippoussis match, I was left completely in shock. I was shocked, not only because of the 6-2 6-2 6-4 scoreline, but also becaues of Mark's horrible play. What is up with him?

Congratulations to Hicham, for playing a very solid, and at times very good match (like that passing shot in the last game; superb!). I really had expected Mark to win this match without a problem, so I am very much surprised!

What happened, Mark was looking so good. I haven't seen the match but his serve must have not been working well. Mark lives and dies by his serve...

DARN! I was hoping for *really* competitive, all-star Quarters. Oh well, Hicham could still deliver against Ferrero. Good job Hicham. I'm sure all of Morocco is very happy for you. And congrats for matching what Younes did last year, which is getting to the Quarters.

Mars does this all the time. After seeing him play against Johansson it was obvious he could not keep that level of play up and was going to get carved up when he played someone talented. I was predting Santoro would do what Arazi did today. Well it eventually happened just 2 rounds later

I didn't get to see the match but the result does surprise me.

Mark's serve was fine. But his groundstrokes were horrible. Too many unforced errors. Hicham had only 9 unforced errors in 2 sets, and coupled with some absolutely rediculous shots he was pulling out his rear end, Mark got thumped.

yeh i no i was actually surprised how bad his ground strokes were

The serve wasn't too good either, but the unforced errors... way too many! This level was too low; basically anyone in the men's draw would've beaten Philippoussis who plays like this.

If Ferrero beats Hicham, he'll have gotten to the semis with only one top 50 win....

the only reason Pavel isnt top 50 though is because he was injured, hes normally a top 30 player

Great work from the talented Arazi! But I would have expected more of a challenge from Philippoussis.

I would have loved to see Mark go beyond the forth round, but it just wasn't his day.
Hopefully he can prepare and do better at his next event.

Hicham just played amazing tennis today, best I've seen from him! I think he would have won even if Mark was at his best. I wouldnt be surprised if Hicham beat Ferrero next, in fact I'm expecting him to if he plays like this again.

I even thought Ferrero could be the one ousted....but not Mark, he was definitely looking good on his last matches; but well, you never know....

Then congrats to Arazi. Great run so far, and I think he's got a good chance to get to SF.

Ferrero will beat Arazi, easily, but I hope Hicham wins!

Scud reminds me a bit of Sushi. big blasting shots at the start of the tourney and then his energy level slowly leaks away. not a clue how to pace himself.

For me, Philippoussis is just as Spain before any football World Cup; lots of expectatives, and at last they go home with nothing....*not trying to offend Spanish people here* :)

How interesting that two years in a row the highest-ranked Aussie has been taken out in the Round of 16 with brilliant play by a Moroccan!

He'll be like Zuluaga on the women's side. Damn those claycourters and their easy draws! :fiery:

In fact, I think I have seen much better of him. This was not his best and a fair number of players would've beaten an Arazi like this. He played good, but it just shows how bad Mark was..
