(01-25-2004) - Boris Becker is taking a swing at TV.

The three-time Wimbledon champion will host a half-hour talk show, German sports station DSF announced Tuesday.

DSF did not reveal details about the program, which is still being developed and is supposed to start in the spring.

Becker acknowledges he's had trouble carving out a new life since he retired from tennis. He repeatedly has generated headlines for personal problems, including a conviction for tax evasion, a messy divorce, and an out-of-wedlock child with a Russian model.

His autobiography "Hold it, why don't you stay ..." ranks No. 3 on a best-seller list in Germany. Becker writes that he used pills and alcohol to cope with pressure while he was playing and that he once asked his wife to shoot him while in a drunken stupor.

Last year, at 35, Becker became the second-youngest member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame (Bjorn Borg was 31).

His first Wimbledon title came in 1985 at 17, making him the tournament's youngest champion. The German also was the first unseeded man to win there.

Becker's six career Grand Slam titles include two at the Australian Open (1991, 1996) and one at the U.S. Open (1989).
