Well, it looks like the trend of ignoring David Nalbandian's matches will continue as well as ignoring Juan Carlos Ferrero. They are both playing two men who are having great starts to 2004 after having been out most of last year.

(8)David Nalbandian vs. Guillermo Canas
(3)Juan Carlos Ferrero vs. Andrei Pavel

Now, someone explain to me how the two women's matches tongiht can even compare to how I expect both of these men's matches to go. I like Tatiana Golovin and Anastasia Myskina but compared to the four men tonight I just don't feel the same level of excitement.

I think it's pretty damn pathetic that neither the #3 or the #8 players in the world have gotten much (if at all) air time. Shoot, this morning was the first time that I saw Sebastien this entire tournament and it was the one game where he was serving for the match. So nice of them to show the #9 player  .

All I have to say is that the plan to show Roger vs. Lleyton had better stick or I might lose it.

they won't, but it's 2 Americans.... so yeah.

This isn't even surprising anymore lol

It's very frustrating. But, I think it's going to stay that way.

How difficult is it to explain that even if you are building a "story line" you've got to develop some of the other characters in case your main one gets killed off?

They are currently showing the fourth set of Blake/Safin from last night, for those who might have tuned out...

I want to see this crazy shot that Safin allegedly hit to break.

James baby has a little male pattern baldness going on. :)

Interesting how Safin completely gives up when he gives Blake a really short high bouncing ball. This has happened several times already. True, there is a 99% chance that Blake will take the point, but what about the 1% chance that Blake is stupid and hits it back at Marat, or hits it incorrectly...

For someone who knows.....

How is the a in Safin pronounced. is like A in action, or A in father? (american pronounciation)

in croatian the a would be pronounced like the a in father and croatian and russian are both slavic languages so i'm pretty sure that it how it's pronounced.

Intersting.

ESPN has an hour of coverage left... do we have to suffer through the Andre match now?

Deboogle!.
01-25-2004, 07:03 PM
oh yay Andy in the studio :D

amazing point

Yeah. Cause no vowell anywhere is as drawn out as Americans have them. :D

more of an e sound that fin..... but not as much as feel... right?

And thanks for the help, Croat. :)

MisterQ
01-25-2004, 07:05 PM
yeah, the ee sound is short -- but it's not a dull "schwa" as in english. you can hear the ee quality.

Crazy shot! It would be illegal if the racket had left his hand already when the ball hit, but I think he still was holding it.

The Andre match would be 1000000000x more interesting than the Roddick match.

Andy in the studio. Nice. He will say like "Yep, Safin is good", "I have to play good and hit my shots". Man can I read minds or what?

Deboogle!.
01-25-2004, 07:09 PM
lol yes you can.

Andy "the only volley winner I've hit in 2 years"

That one (plus some) set of Marat/James I just saw was the happiest viewing experience I've had since the AO coverage started. :) James was playing VERY well. I hope he can continue to improve his ranking throughout the year. But, MARAT! :woohoo: I got a chance to see the shot making, the movement, the aces!! YES! I heard about his incredible shot to break James. But, words didn't do it justice! That was

Now I can go back to watching whatever ESPN feels like slapping up on the screen in duplicate...

Nevermind the "team USA" attitude of the TV coverage. And I can't really understand them showing a tape of Myskina v. Rubin while Nalbandian, Cañas, Ferrero, and Pavel are playing LIVE!!!

There are great games happening LIVE!! and an OK match that happened hours ago, of which everyone knows the results of...

which one would I choose? Apparently ESPN doesn't care and just wants to appeal to the group of Americans that hold an American flag even to go to the restroom (and probably doesn't know/care much about tennis).

It's a shame!

PS: don't even get me started on the "World Series" and football "World Champions"....

Has ESPN suddenly listened to viewers now?

Instead of showing Raymond blew Golovin off the court 6-2 6-0, they showed LIVE Ferrero vs Pavel after Myskina/Rubin match.

:worship: :worship:

maybe they're wising up a little! We can only hope!
