I know it's a team and the one who has to play is the one who is better. But I think that Cañas wasn't in better form than Calleri right now. I have always been agree with Mancini desicions about who plays each rubber, but I haven't this time, and I do not say it because they lost today, I said it yesterday when I noticed that Nalbandian and Cañas would play today.
I like Willy, but he is without confidence lately. I don't know what would happened if Calleri had played, but I think it would have been different.
The other posibility was that Calleri and Cañas play the doubles match. Now, Nalbandian will be tired for the 4th rubber too.
Im sorry about my english, I know there are lots of mistakes.

Mancini must have seen Cañas in a better form in practice. Cañas was awful today.

I try to stay confident Argentina will reach the DC final.
That's all that matters to me.

Agustin has been selected by Mancini to play the Davis Cup final.
He will most likely be paired with Nalbandian to play the doubles.

Very happy for him :D Let's keep the fingers crossed for the Argie team :rocker2:
he's not playing DC (http://msn.foxsports.com/fsi/fse/story/tenis?contentId=8888946) next year. What a shocker :awww:

Hmm, that's a disappointing decision, especially since Calleri has been a fine servant for the DC team and pretty much played very well when he was called on. The fallout from the fiasco is coming through.
Hope he can have a great 2009.

This is sad news  It proves how hard this defeat was on him personally and I'm sure he'll need time to cope with it. But I do hope there is a chance he changes his mind and decides to play anyway.

he didnt decided is if over..
"Las semanas de la Copa Davis podrían ser de descanso.
Es hora de pensar más en mí. Me gustaría tener esas semanas libres
So.. maybe if argentina is going to france in R2 maybe he wants to play

Argentine ousted by fiesty Frenchman
9:22PM Tuesday January 13, 2009
Marc Gicquel showed there is real fight in the French flag, gaining a hard-earned 3-6 6-4 6-4 over fellow veteran Agustin Calleri.
The 31-year-old Frenchman and the 32-year-old Argentine put on a grand show for the centre court crowd in a match that lasted for just under two hours.
After taking the first set, the Argentine seemed to tire, especially in the third set while Gicquel got stronger as the match progressed.
Calleri sent down nine aces but will rue a first serve percentage of 45%, while Gicquel managed 61% despite seven double faults.
Games went with serve with in the first set until Calleri managed two late breaks to take the set in 35 minutes.
Seemingly stung by this, world number 52 Gicquel seized an early break in the third game of the second set and wasn't letting go, hanging on to his slender advantage to take the match to a deciding set.
The final set saw Gicquel, who achieved a career high ranking of 37 in 2008, break the Calleri serve twice in a row to seize a 5-2 lead.
The Argentine refused to surrender, grabbing a break back and closing to 5-4 but Gicquel, aided by some big serves, held his nerve to close out the set 6-4 and the match
