No no, the field is not the issue. I tend to prefer a tournament when there are fewer Top 50 players. It's just that the tournament completely lacks ambience. And they just don't know how to organize the event :shrug: Rain delays when you can still play, not letting fans know when play will recommence, keeping the gates closed until well after the scheduled opening times, overcharging, not allowing the fans to watch players practise.. It's all of that that really makes me dislike the event. And everyone I have spoken too feels the same.

Depending on your connection, from Amsterdam Central Station to Amersfoort it is only 30-45 minutes. Then you still need to catch a bus in Amersfoort to take you to the venue. From Schiphol (the airport) it is between 45 and 60 minutes.

That sucks :( I would still probably go anyway, but yeah... that would bother me.

They are hardly ever free, around here.

In Rotterdam the price is OK, but I usually manage to get in free (and get access to centre court, which is not accessible for ordinary visitors :o). In Amersfoort it's €8,50, which is reasonable, but not for what I fear they will be offering. In Rosmalen it's a ridiculous €15 :help: And the men's qualies field is truly horrible :o

Also, WTA Antwerp and Hasselt are €20 and €15 or something like that :rolls: It's crazy. It's almost as cheap to go to Roland Garros with a grounds pass :o And yes, I had to pay for Roland Garros qualies too. Wimbledon is free though.

You have to pay for quallies for both Cincy and Toronto I believe, but not for the US Open :inlove:

I don't think your friends would like Amersfoort much. It's not a small city, but it is not very nice for young tourists. But they could stay in Amsterdam :shrug: :)

Qualifying in D.C. is only $9 so it's really not that bad. I don't mind paying that for a day of tennis.

Well, they have some shops and such, but it's more or less an old town. Tourists that come there come for the zoo (very poor one, btw), the nature around the city, some of the old buildings and the shops. I don't know what your friends like :lol:

I recommend sleeping in the Golden Tulip Hotel (also the player's hotel). It's very nice :angel: They had delicious brownies at the breakfast buffet last year :drool:

I hate that too. I really hate the celebrities they always show on TV watching the matches. Like I care that Jennifer Aniston was at the Roland Garros final. :rolleyes: And it annoys me they probably bent over backwards to give her those tickets when ordinary fans tried for over a year to get some unsuccessfully.

I went again today and I did see Novak! But he played on the court furthest away :rolleyes: with Guillermo Coría. It was too far to take good pictures :sobbing: I did see him doing a cooling down after that, elsewhere at the venue, but I don't disturb players during cooling downs. Plus, he was with his girlfriend, and they were being very touchy feely :lol: So I don't really have much of a Nole experience here :(

He probably practise(s)(d) again today, but the heat was so unbearable that I was starting to feel nauseous and since no one other than Al Ghareeb was practising, I decided to leave. :(

It was too far to take good pictures :sobbing: I did see him doing a cooling down after that, elsewhere at the venue, but I don't disturb players during cooling downs.
