I don't know............Does Wimbledon even have lighting??no, they can't play on grass after sundown b/c of the dew - too slippery and dangerous. 4 matches in 7 hours on the main 2 courts is awfully stupid and ambitious. Starting at noon on all courts or even 11 on all the outer courts could really have helped them catch up especially if it rains again a little tomorrow. that is just plain stupidity. the last matches on a bunch of courts are probably not going to finish. STUPID.

TBA means they don't know where they're gonna put them so they'll go on the first available courts.

I mean i'd be very surprised if the Andys got to play. that is a ridiculous schedule when you have best of 5 matches. I just don't understand why they wouldn't start an hour earlier to try to ensure that more matches will be finished.

Completely agree...........this schedule is rediculous........ Play should be scheduled to start by 11 AM.

I know that they have to wait til some later hour b/c of the dew, it has to dry off. Maybe that's why they don't want to start at 11, but at least the two main courts could have been backed up to 12.

Whatever. All this really poor scheduling lately, though, I am going to bring it out in a couple months when everyone bags 10x more about the USO scheduling ;)

I was assuming the dew would be dry by 10  But, I guess, this is London   I think Wimbledon should have had roofs on their two main courts by now and I really can't think of a plausable excuse for them not having roofs.............it certainly can't be a financial issue.....

But it's stupid to not start at noon on the 2 main courts, that's for sure.

Why no roofs? Resistence to change, most likely. Just a guess though. We gotta wait 3 more years for that, sadly.

They won't start it earlier because of - guess what - the famous Wimbledon tradition that everyone thinks is so wonderful  Oh and because an earlier start would interfere too much with all the Debenture holders' corporate lunches and hospitality packages etc.

Weather forecast is still not brilliant for tomorrow - lots of showers and delays - so don't think it's likely that anyone scheulded last on will actually play.

And though I am British, I think it is totally disrespectful that they have kicked Nalbandian (Number 4 seed and former finalist) off Centre Court to make way for unseeded Andy Murray

Ah well - yet another thing to add to my list of why I hate Wimbledon!

I'm afraid they are slave to their traditions. "Play shall not begin prior to noon, and certainly no earlier than 1 PM on the show courts." I'm kind of surprised they don't suspend play on all courts during tea time.

I think in Wimbledon it's all a matter of tradition. There hasn't been a roof in the last 100 years so there won't be a roof in future. Of course, some day they will build a roof but that will be decades after the last european challenger has one. But this means also good news: In case of end of the world you should go to Wimbledon. The world will end 100 years later there  .

They get refunds because there was less than an hour's play. They can't get in tomorrow because all the Show Courts were sold out months ago for each separate day.

Actually - they are building a roof on Centre Court - work starts next year and it will be ready in 2009. And to be fair - the reason for not building one previousy isn't to do with tradition but because of the effect a roof will have on the grass - making it more slippery and dangerous etc, We have a fairly new football stadium here with a retractabe roof, and there have been all sorts of problems with the condition of the grass because of the atmosphere when the roof is closed. Plus also, Wimbledon is in an extremely built-up residential area, and the residents objected and the Council refused to give planning permission for all the work etc for a long time.

Wimbledon will normally only start at 12 when they have a sizeable backlog of matches. A situation currently not applicable.

Even though you can't stand Davey these days? :p

I'm no major fan of Wimbledon, despite the surface ;)

It's pathetic. I wish Wimbledon would get with the times- it's 2006 now, we do things different.

Earlier play.
Let the players wear what they want.
Play on the middle Sunday.

Wimbledon is starting to fuck me off, it's only the grass tennis that makes me watch it!

And though I am British, I think it is totally disrespectful that they have kicked Nalbandian (Number 4 seed and former finalist) off Centre Court to make way for unseeded Andy Murray :mad:it's even more disrespectful to Hewitt, who was an actual former champion and is still a high seed and isn't even sure when or where he's going to play and is just lumped in the TBA and will be put wherever he can and maybe won't even play (then again a lot of the actually scheduled matches probably won't even play).

I am very disappointed

Rainer :o :(

I know. He's soo loyal to his coach and I don't think that he'll get a new one. The thing is that Rainer can't even go deep in Challengers anymore. How does he want to go far in Grand Slams?

FUCK YOU SERRA AND LOUSY PERFORMANCE YOU PUT UP, I have never seen so many break chances wasted and total lack of heart and tact, man can't even hold his damn serve to stay in a cruicial set. I can say this with confidence and Dlouhy sucks on anything other then Dirt. How do you beat Robredo and Santoro on Grass then lose to a guy like Dlouhy a week later in the opening round of a major, Wimbledon no less. Go crawl back under a rock you gutless worm Florent Serra
