I listened to Wimbledon radio too and I'm assuming it's my dial-up that made it cut out all the time...they would give a name and then say "will be playing" and several times it cut out so I would miss the other players name so I was quite lost much of the time.

Ok so the draw is out & like the sad person I am I listened to Wimbledon radio :o David's got Roitman in the 1st round which should be a gimme I hope :D

With Roitman you never know. He may well have decided he's a grass specialist. So I'm not so sure. But VAMOS DAVID!!!!!! none the less.:)

You might still get to see Nico. He's not out, just Murray. Dik will be so sad. I wonder how Feli will do this year? He's in the same side of the draw as Lapentti. Wouldn't it be great fun to have a Marat-Feli semi finale? If that happens I'm getting on a plane to stand in line at the Wimby ticket-window. But I'll be happy with a Ferrer-Lopez QF.:)

At least you get interactive so you don't actually have to watch the women. I only have ESPN coverage so when they show a womens match that means I won't be getting some interesting mens match.

Hello to all

I was lucky enough to have tickets yesterday and got to see David's match (my first time seeing David play after all these years of going to Wimbledon!) and it was so great to see him WIN!

He looked focused and the court was packed. I heard lots of Spanish shouts supporting him which was lovely so I kept quiet and watched in admiration. I didn't have a camera as I only found out I could go yesterday but I did see lots of people with some rather serious kit taking some pictures so I hope they turn up on the internet somewhere ...

His fall was a little scary. He had to shake his leg out a bit and checked on his achilles heel a bit which made me very worried but he seemed fine. Hopefully a good rub down (oooh errr) post match would have done the trick.

I am so excited he is into the 3rd round and hope he can go even further. Hopefully the pressure is off a bit with less points to defend so he can just get into the groove of the game.

All positive thoughts out to David - this will be a tough one as Sod has come on a lot as a player and the court condition looks like it suits him better.... but hey - there's no-one I'd rather back in a fight to the very last point than David (or Rafa)

He may be a good player, but as a person, I don't like the guy (Soderling) and still think he has an attitude problem (though I shouldn't say it about someone I've never met I suppose...)

VAMOSSSSSS Ferru!!!!

He played beautifully... I think the only problem today was his serve. Maybe it was just Murray who had better reflexes than Roddick, but David scored 10 aces against Roddick, and only 6 today in a much longer match. He also had a far smaller % of first serves in, I believe. Whereas Murray served extraordinarily well, especially in the last set.
Otherwise David was sensational...
I'm a bit disappointed that he didn't make the semis because he was so close, that would have been brilliant... But seeing him leave on such a performance is actually far less painful than watching him being mauled by Nadal in RG. Even though I had expected that defeat, it still hurt so much!

Check out the official book for the olympics, David's picture is gorgeous. Although I love Del Potro's and Tsonga's pics, as well.

Sophitia36
07-04-2012, 10:11 PM
Yes! That's also why I'm not too sad, I'm hoping to see him play like this in the Olympics! ;)

No pb for the link, that was my pleasure! :)
Ferru really is gorgeous off court. It's funny because very few people seem to notice that, probably because the headband and wet hair etc are not so flattering while he's playing. Actually, I remember when I first noticed him I was like "OK he's cute" (like many other players) and then "wow I do like his game", but it was only several years after following him as my favourite player that I noticed that he was not just cute, but downright gorgeous.
Well since he says he enjoys being relatively ignored by the media... maybe he's hiding his looks on purpose, too! :D

To be honest, I like that he doesn't like the spotlight too much, that's an endearing quality to me. So if he wants it to stay that way, I guess I should also wish the same because it would be the best for him. But at the same time, I feel it's really unfair that his talent is so little acknowledged. I'm sick and tired of hearing people say he is all "workhorse" and no "talent". He does not have the same kind of talent, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have any...
Incredible reflexes, quickness, intelligence, and great technique... he has all this, now maybe that isn't registered as "talent", but, who can say exactly what "talent" means, anyway

Pics you are a wonderful, talented player, and it is always a pleasure and a privilege to see you play, even when you don't win! :worship:

This year I think the only thing we really have to cheer for is the continuation of his QF streak. His preparation has been bad due to a lingering stomach infection, but he has a really pleasant opening round to get into the tournament.

R1: Carreņo Busta
R2: Kuznetsov/Evans
R3: Seppi/Brown/Baghdatis

Actually, if I get to see a Brown - Ferrer match my tournament would already be a success :hearts:

Yes... And a few days ago he wasn't even sure of going to Wimbledon at all, so it's not like it's a surprise or a massive disappointment.

He's going to lose even more points, though :(

That's true - it did look like he wouldn't be able to make it. It's good that at least he was able to give it a go. I think it's so disappointing for players when they're forced to miss slams. But really he needed more time to fully recover and then prepare - he's not someone who can turn up to a grass event and be comfortable straight away.

It is a shame about the QF points being lost. Looking at the live rankings though, he looks to be safe to stay in the top 8. He can gain in Bastad and he's talking about maybe playing another clay event in July so he might be able to make up the lost points.
