I really just want him to defend his points from last year, the third round again would be great. Anything after that would be icing on the cake.

Let's hope for a good draw! No Federer in the first round, please ;)

Allez Nole!

Vamos :rocker2:

Play on every 2nd day. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. And play someone crap so you'll be on an outside court and I can watch you :p

If you see him you'll take a lot of pictures for me, right? And the same kidnapping plot applies.

You're becoming such a Serbian supporter... I love it :)

Scotso

I want him to play on the first days :p actually I don't care as long as he is in the bottom half and has an easier draw than Ljubitch at the French. VAMOS!

Tough draw for Janko Tipsarevic!!! He plays against Roddick!

he's got some chances, he has been good on grass so far and Roddick is not what he used to be. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a tight battle and I can be sure it will be on tv and on big court

His trajectory to the quarters and possible Federer encounter is like this
1r.Goldstein
2r. Robredo
3r. Monfils
4r. Ancic

If he gets serious , I give him the edge here

Kill me.

Novak is going to lose again. Goldstein did decent in his match against Ginepri at Queens I believe.

Is this another reverse psychological tactic? Nole can come up with lots of excuses for the OZ. It was windy. He had a new raquet he didn't like. Rebound Ace is lame.

He won't lose to Goldstein.

What will be his excuses this time? Still suffering his injury from the French, blame in on some rain?

Scotso
06-23-2006, 03:37 PM
Nole won't lose to Goldstein on grass. Paul has no major weapons, plus he hasn't been playing that well lately. I love them both, sadly  but good luck to Nole.

I think it's a good draw. Robredo is always tough... but this IS grass....

come on guys...it is all about serve...goldstein is a very tough hurdle in first round, loss from him is not excluded.... and he has a tough draw but i think he can make it....anyway...it all depends on him...he has a play to win every single player in the world...

come on nole!!!! :worship: :worship: :wavey:

Give him the edge in which match. Against Ancic on GRASS?

If he can return his serve reasonably well , he should win but that's the biggest if since his return of serve is problematic at best. Still that's a long , long way off

uglyamerican

We're going for blind optimism, today. I am.

Scotso

ezekiel
06-23-2006, 05:18 PM
Have you been looking at Ancic's form recently?

I've seen his match against Fed at RG and this week he has struggled against some anonymous players, ul haq?
Anyway , if they should meet which is a big if , Novak has a good chance and he has beaten him at USO last year already but we'll see. Novak struggles with fitness especially if he should go into the second week of a slam .

Scotso
06-23-2006, 08:29 PM
Ancic wins a lot of matches... but when he's tested, he tends to fall apart. If Nole can take a set and hang with him, he'd probably collapse.

Clay = Mario's weakest surface.

Anyone struggles their first match on a new surface. Adjusting from clay to a faster surface will lead a good player to struggle against someone lesser. Ancic took care of Baghdatis in straight sets today.

ezekiel
06-23-2006, 10:49 PM
he is a good player no doubt and has been winning more close matches recently and some have labeled him a contender for Wimbledon so no one will take him lightly . Hopefully they play against each other

Novak beat Andre Agassi who has been in the news today

Yes. You are the only one. Well maybe not the only one, but I expected this. Tommy isn't the typical Spaniard who is ONLY a claycourter. While grass may not be his absolute best, he does perform well on fast surfaces and beat Nole last fall on carpet in a VERY tight match that those of us who posted in this forum last year were going crazy during :)

Scotso

Scotso

Tommy is a good player on all surfaces. Best on clay, but he was raised playing on hardcourts so he's not a complete grasscourt clown.

I think faster surfaces are best for him particularly grass because of low bounce. His flat forehand which is his best weapon is very effective on grass.

Let's none of us overstate Robredo's grass court ability. Since 2004 he's lost to the following players on grass:

Michael Llodra
Karol Beck
Lars Burgsmuller
Fernando Verdasco
Florent Serra

On grass he hasn't beaten anyone in the top 40 in 5 years.

I was just saying it wasn't a surprise to me that Novak didn't win easily, which is what ezekiel seemed to expect in his first post. I don't know, he confused me by saying, "Is anyone else surprised Nole didn't win that set easier?" and then said, "You are right, Robredo is a good all court player." So I don't know if he was surprised or not.

Perhaps I shouldn't have even mentioned the SF on grass because far more important was their match last fall, which may not look close with a 6-3, 6-4 scoreline for Tommy, was indeed quite close and Nole had plenty of chances to take. I mean, if people were surprised that the set wasn't 6-1, I feel like they don't know these two players ;) And considering they're my favorite two... well... I felt the need to talk about it :p

OK, but I don`t remember which member of top40 lost against Nole on grass too. After Wimbledon Nole will go back to the clay and it means he likes clay too. Robredo couldn`t be top10 player if he knows to play only on clay.

I`m happy Nole won 1st set. :worship: Only two left...
