Why is Tommy a WC??
He surely has a protected ranking!

Good luck Joachim and Vince :)

Why is Tommy a WC??
He surely has a protected ranking!

He'll only have that protected ranking for a certain number (I think it's 9) of tournaments and considering that he doesn't even have a ranking right now, he probably wants to pick & choose where he asks for a WC & where to used the protected ranking for entry.

And he'll be granted a lot of wild cards in the USA and Germany if necessary..

Can anyone explain what's this clay tournament is doing at this time of year?

Kroger St.Jude in an INDOOR HARDCOURT tournament. which tournament are you talking about?

02-13-2004, 02:59 PM
The women tournament is on clay according to this...
Tournament Details

Memphis,TN,USA (Kroger St.Jude)

Details Results Navigation
WTA Event
16 Feb to 22 Feb (2004)
$170 000

Aren't they at the same location? That's even more mysterious...

Well... that site must have been wrong...

It all makes sense now... almost...
How do they manage to stage men&women tournament indoors? how many courts do they use?

02-13-2004, 03:19 PM
hm.... maybe they have more than one? Or, it's just a very very packed schedule lol

02-13-2004, 11:59 PM
They got 32-draw men singles, 30-draw women singles, 16-draw both men&women doubles, plus qualifying...
The main draws only require 46 singles matches in 1st and 2nd rounds, plus 16 matches of 1st round doubles, and those 62 matches must be completed in 4 days... it's 15-16 matches a day... it would be a packed schedule with 2 courts, playing from morning to midnight... if they play all doubles quarterfinals on Friday that will also be a day of 16 matches...

What are you guys talking about? It's indoor hard for both. Why the hell would they change the surface at the same tournament?
