I picked this up from WTAWorld.

Men's singles

ANDY RODDICK

I think Roddick can do well on this surface because of his serve, but his returns could be a little suspect over the course of seven matches. I think he needs to have a little more time on his return of serve if he's going to play like he did at the United States Open.

ROGER FEDERER

Serve-and-volley players who mix it up are real threats to the baseliners on this surface and I think Federer could be dangerous enough to win the tournament. He will be full of confidence after the way he finished last year and, if he wins here, he may be hard to stop in 2004.

JUAN CARLOS FERRERO

I like the way Ferrero plays, but he's got Max Mirnyi and Mark Philippoussis ahead, and I think they would be the worst kind of opponents for him. He doesn't return as well as Andre Agassi, and they could really bother him with their serves and coming in and mixing it up. He needs a certain opponent to play really well.

ANDRE AGASSI
On paper, there's some good guys around him, but he's just got to watch out and play solid. Guys know what they've got to produce to beat him, and sometimes I think they beat themselves before they walk on court. If I was Agassi, I'd be happy with my draw.

MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS

I like the style of play that he has, and this surface suits him well with his powerful serve. As he said himself, to produce seven matches at that level is not easy, but it looks like he has calmed down and he knows that he doesn't have to play at his best all the time to be winning matches.

LLEYTON HEWITT

He's going to enter new territory at an Australian Open once he gets past the fourth round. He's at home and suddenly he is making the fourth round, and everyone wants a piece of you when you're on home turf. You really need to save your best for the last three matches and he hasn't been there before in Melbourne, so it's a little hard to know how he will go.
