Can Dinara outlast Marat in OZ Open?

My answer was 50-50.

50-50 Dinara is a darkhorse, and so is Marat.

I have more faith in Marat than in Dinara.

Dinara's mom is kinda hard on her. :sad:

Well i've fallen in love with Dinara after sydney last week, so i would love to see her do well but yeh you have to think that Marat has a better chance of doing well because he seems to be on a mission and is playing some good tennis.

I like Dinara but I give Marat the definite edge. I hope and expect to see him around in week #2.

Marat probably, but her draw isn't too hard either. At least when Clijsters doesn't go through.

No way. Marat can beat anyone in the whole AO mens draw, the same cannot be said for Dinara in the women's draw. And Marat seems to be playing well too, I saw him today and he played great, apart from some minor concetration lapses.

i would say definitely marat, but you never know with this family, but his draw is the better one

Provided Marat is fully fit. Just the edge on Marat. Though, Dinara has become among the best 30 players on the Wtatour. Wish them both a very good Aus-Open.

Congrats Dinara. I would love if she took out Clijsters in the next round; it is a possibility considering Kimmy's potential injury.

Dinara is talented but Marat is in playing pretty solid... so it's unlikely that safina is going to do better than her brother.

Very unlikely as Clijsters seems to be doing fine, physically. She's killing Camerin 6-0, 1-0. :o

We shouldn't make too big a deal out of Dinara beating Amanda Coetzer. I think that Coetzer, by the time we reach Wimbledon or the US Open, will no longer be seeded and will fall down the rankings big time. She hasn't been worth a thing the last months and I don't see her making any progress. A lot of those young players are capable of beating here, and therefore her place in the top 50 is most definitely at stake.

I like Dinara but I think it's the big bro who will go deeper. Marat is playing well, and hopefully he'll continue doing so or even improve as Oz progresses.

I don't think Dinara will outlast Marat at AO. Her next opponent is Kim Clijsters. Kim's played a brilliant second round match and won it 6-0, 6-0. Dinara might put up a good fight but I don't she'll defeat Kim. Marat's been playing pretty good..

Kim will win in two sets, I think. Not a problem there :)

It made me smile when I was listening to the audio and could hear Dinara yelling at herself. I could almost see the way she looked.

Hopefulyl she can improve that over the years. She is 6'1'' and should take advantage of her height. It'd be disappointing if she became like Elena Dementieva: tall with an inexplicably horrible serve.
