Your favourite Harry Potter book!CooCooCachoo 01-14-2004, 11:20 AM Well... what is your favourite Harry Potter book? A simple question made by a person who is very bored, but still has way too much to do    CooCooCachoo 01-14-2004, 11:22 AM OK Let me start off.. I voted for HP & The Goblet of Fire, because it had the best storyline and contained more action than the other books. Also I felt, after having read #5, that it was not yet complete. Nymeria 01-14-2004, 05:17 PM I voted HP & The Prisoner of Azkaban. But I like the 4th book as much as the 3rd one amethyst 01-14-2004, 05:56 PM For me the best is the prisoner of Azkaban. It has such an unique atmosphere. In my opinion in 4th and 5th book there´s a little bit too much action (especially the big showdown in book 5). tall_one 01-14-2004, 09:13 PM Prisoner of Azkaban, all of the excitment, none of the dying. Hispanica 01-15-2004, 01:47 AM I like all of them but I realized that almost everyone like the 3rd one and that's also the only i which Voldemort doesn't appear... CooCooCachoo 01-15-2004, 04:10 PM Lol Hispanica. I really liked the Triwizard Tournament aspect in The Goblet of Fire, as well as the Quidditch World Championships.. Cedric dying was not that much fun, obviously. But a book doesn't need to have a happy ending, I think (although in the end, all will probably end well anyways). sam 01-15-2004, 04:31 PM I like th fourth one. I'm surprised so many people voted for the third book as I think it's one of the weakest. CooCooCachoo 01-15-2004, 04:44 PM I agree, Sam! I think the second one was weaker, but the third one was relatively weak too. But they were all a great read! Nymeria 01-15-2004, 08:19 PM You're right Sam, the third one was relatively weak, but I still liked it mosted  I know, I'm weird :p Hispanica 01-16-2004, 02:41 AM Great to read ones but I couldn't read them a second time right now... that's the difference with Lord of the Rings... CooCooCachoo 01-16-2004, 05:08 AM I still need to read the LOTR books.. I have them here, but there are sooooo many books I need to read first.. Ugh! Legolas.. there is nothing wrong with being weird ;) Nymeria 01-16-2004, 06:53 PM You really have to read the LotR-books, CooCooCachoo, they're much better as the HP-books. Especially the third book is great. Oh, and you should read the hobbit too! Iza 01-16-2004, 06:59 PM my fave is the 5th one. dunno y, maybe cos u find out many stuff about the past  Hispanica 01-16-2004, 11:23 PM Read the hobbit first actually... you'll undersatnd the books lotr better Leo 01-16-2004, 11:56 PM My order: 1. Prisoner 2. Goblet 3. Order 4. Chamber 5. Stone Nymeria 01-17-2004, 09:23 AM Read the hobbit first actually... you'll undersatnd the books lotr better yeah, you're right, I did do that too! Sad that there's no Legolas in the Hobbit :p CooCooCachoo 01-17-2004, 05:40 PM I have The Hobbit at home; a very very nice one actually, was about $40 or something and I got it for free :) :P Plus a lot of other books, because the Internet book company screwed up! A belated thanks to them should be in order :) Iza 01-17-2004, 07:06 PM did any of u read simarillon? i heard it's like the post-LotR book. dunno bout it tho cos i haven't read it. CooCooCachoo 01-18-2004, 07:46 AM Sorry.. haven't read it either! Nymeria 01-18-2004, 11:57 AM did any of u read simarillon? i heard it's like the post-LotR book. dunno bout it tho cos i haven't read it. I did read it :) Well it tells a lot about ME, about a lot of creatures, and people who live in ME. But it has nothing to do with the LotR-story amethyst 01-18-2004, 12:25 PM The Silmarillion is about times before the LotR. I started reading it but I stopped because I found it very complicated and hard to read, altough I like LotR very much. Nymeria 01-18-2004, 12:28 PM The Silmarillion is about times before the LotR. I started reading it but I stopped because I found it very complicated and hard to read, altough I like LotR very much. Well, I think it's hard and complicated too! But I really had to read it. At the end it's better as in the beginning Hispanica 01-19-2004, 12:32 AM Thta makes me wanna read it but I'll wait to have it in french Nymeria 01-19-2004, 07:58 PM yeah, it will be much easier for you to read in French instead of English! I read in my own language (Dutch) too! Hispanica 01-19-2004, 10:42 PM Where are you from in The Netherlands? Nymeria 01-20-2004, 08:44 AM I'm from Roermond, it's in the south east. About 5 km away of Germany, and 10 km away of Belgium :) CooCooCachoo 01-20-2004, 11:23 AM Hehe near Vaals then Legolas :p I have the LOTR books at home in English.. read HP in English too, so that it would be less childish really. I started reading it but I had to read a lot of introductions and prefixes, which was soooo boring, so I quit. Now I have to read too much for school, so I have no time anymore :( Hispanica 01-20-2004, 02:00 PM I'm in Canada as an exchnage student so I'm ok wwith that. I can read as much as I want CooCooCachoo 01-20-2004, 02:08 PM lol I will be going to Paris later this year, for four days, but I won't have time to read. Well, in the bus maybe. It's a school trip and they have everything planned.. Might be fun though, only I am going to have to stay with the grumpiest guy lol.. But he is ok, I guess. Nymeria 01-20-2004, 07:47 PM Hehe near Vaals then Legolas :p I have the LOTR books at home in English.. read HP in English too, so that it would be less childish really. I started reading it but I had to read a lot of introductions and prefixes, which was soooo boring, so I quit. Now I have to read too much for school, so I have no time anymore :( Vaals is still far away from where I live. Almost every place in Limburg is close to Germany and Belgium ;) I did not yet read LotR in English, but I'll do that once. I read the HP books in English too :) Nymeria 01-20-2004, 07:48 PM lol I will be going to Paris later this year, for four days, but I won't have time to read. Well, in the bus maybe. It's a school trip and they have everything planned.. Might be fun though, only I am going to have to stay with the grumpiest guy lol.. But he is ok, I guess. I'll go to Dublin Saturday. Also with school, but it's just for 5 days... Hispanica 01-20-2004, 10:37 PM Well, these are great trips. CooCooCachoo 01-21-2004, 08:54 AM Oh! Enjoy Legolas!! Hehe Actually, I am not going to Paris (Well, I will be visiting Paris, but I will sleep with some family that is going to be appointed to me in Boissy Sous St. Yon, some very very small village.. ugh). Blah, I want to use smileys but my computer is acting strangely! hythger 01-26-2004, 11:01 PM voted for the 3rd book but I also enjoyed the 4th! CooCooCachoo 01-27-2004, 12:22 PM OK I am now officially surprised that the 3rd book is more popular than the 4th or 5th! Iza 01-27-2004, 01:20 PM OK I am now officially surprised that the 3rd book is more popular than the 4th or 5th! i am not surprised about the 4th book cos in my opinion the book is fantastic but the end sucks. Hispanica 01-27-2004, 01:53 PM I asked a girl about which book was her favourite one and she liked the 3rd one best cause the thinks that all the other books are the same... proof: they like when Voldemort is not in the book CooCooCachoo 01-27-2004, 02:12 PM Well, I liked the good against evil element which was the strongest in book #5, but that book just wasn't complete.. Rowling could've done more with that, I think. Hispanica 01-27-2004, 10:44 PM Now, I really wonder how the next books will be cause imo, she doesn't write with the sae aim... just an opinion which can de critized CooCooCachoo 01-28-2004, 11:02 AM I agree on that. I also thought that the fifth book was different from the others, but I still see it as the second or perhaps third best book. Better than book #2 and #3 for sure. Hispanica 01-28-2004, 04:14 PM Yeah, I really didn't like the second book. Other wise, the third was ok. But forth abd fifth were better. Not as much for young kids imo... Aranince 01-31-2004, 01:49 PM I liked the 4th book the best...Altho i haven't read the 5th one yet... :o But the LotR books are the best!! :D CooCooCachoo 01-31-2004, 03:41 PM For those that are more into classics, I really enjoyed some pieces I read of these French classics: Rhinocéros - Eugène Ionesco La cantatrice chauve (Better than Rhinocèros, although the first has a more philosophical element to it) - Ionesco Both plays are written in the style of "Le théatre de l'absurde". Les justes - Albert Camus (again, a play) Le petit prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry And.. this poem by Arthur Rimbaud: "Le dormeur du val" And "Familiale" by Jacques Prévert, another poem. Nymeria 02-01-2004, 05:20 AM But the LotR books are the best!! :D :worship: CooCooCachoo 02-01-2004, 07:03 AM Legolas.. I just noticed how much you worship in just one single post.. 5 times! You must be highly religious ;) Nymeria 02-01-2004, 09:09 AM  I'm not highly religious. But I worship Lord of the Rings as much as possible. And you know, Roger deserves the :worship:s too ;) CooCooCachoo 02-01-2004, 09:54 AM Again... 5 :) Aranince 02-01-2004, 05:51 PM I'm not highly religious. But I worship Lord of the Rings as much as possible. :worship: :worship: :D ;) :worship: :worship: Nymeria 02-01-2004, 06:07 PM I know, that's because there are four :worship:s in my sig! Hispanica 02-02-2004, 01:08 AM For those that are more into classics, I really enjoyed some pieces I read of these French classics: Rhinocéros - Eugène Ionesco La cantatrice chauve (Better than Rhinocèros, although the first has a more philosophical element to it) - Ionesco Both plays are written in the style of "Le théatre de l'absurde". Les justes - Albert Camus (again, a play) Le petit prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry And.. this poem by Arthur Rimbaud: "Le dormeur du val" And "Familiale" by Jacques Prévert, another poem. Well, you have a very good taste with "Le Petit Prince"... I love that book If you like "le Theatre de l'absudre", you might like the play "La solitude dans les champs de coton" by Bernard Marie Koltes... Very special but you might like it... it a very short book too. CooCooCachoo 02-02-2004, 05:57 PM OK Thanks Hispanica! Did you read "La cantatrice chauve" by Ionesco? I think it hilarious and sad as well, but that's the power of le théatre de l'absurde, isn't it? ;) Iza 02-05-2004, 12:13 PM can't stnad that petit prince thingy! i think that book is depressing! Iza 02-05-2004, 12:14 PM i wanted to say :'stand' CooCooCachoo 02-06-2004, 06:24 AM You seriously think so? I actually had to laugh.. Iza 02-07-2004, 07:42 PM this guy is who will play remus lupin (my fave character) David Thewlis (he's TOTALLY different from what I imagined!) I dunno y but I always imagined Lupin like Lucius Malfoy but with friendlier eyes and nicer but more tired face. But grey eyes and light hair. This dude is completely different! Iza 02-07-2004, 07:45 PM this is more like it Topspin047 02-08-2004, 03:00 AM Prisoner of Azkaban!!! :worship: CooCooCachoo 02-08-2004, 06:39 AM this is more like it Liked the first picture better, that looked promising. Did you read "La cantatrice chauve" by Ionesco? I think it hilarious and sad as well, but that's the power of le théatre de l'absurde, isn't it? ;) I'm back.... Unfortunatly, I didn't read "La Cantatrice Chauve" but I will when I get back in belgium. This kind of plays are so great... actually,I might have read a bit in class...
