Since the entry lists are out... :p

1) Halle
2) Nottingham
3) Wimbledon

Hmm... He has to defend points from his Queen's QF and he chooses to switch to Halle?

Too bad he chose to play Halle instead. It actually seems to be a better tournament, but I only get coverage of Queen's of those pre-Wimbledon tournaments. But good luck to him!

Hopefully he'll find some form in the surface that gave him his first title. I really want him at least to defend Nottingham and his 4th round in Wimbledon, but I think he'll need a bit of luck with the draw in these bigger tournaments.

Good luck, Richard!

Richard plays also the Doubles with Kristof Vliegen, the guy who beat him in... Hambourg. First math against Hass/Waske.

Otherwise Richard is already training in grass court located in... Paris !

in l'equipe :
PISTON DIPLOMATIQUE.

Roger def. Richard 7-6(7), 6-7(7), 6-4

What a match
Richard had set points in the first set then saved two match points in the 2nd. I'm more than happy with this result. I was expecting a straight sets easy win for Roger. Even though Roger wasn't playing that well, it showed Richie fighting which is good to see. Of course, I would of liked if he would have won the match, but it shows that Richard is making some progress. Hopefully, Richard can take a lot out of this match for the future.

Hee, the transition from clay to grass has been so fast I'm barely keeping notice of the matches, for once I was shocked when I saw the scoreboard with the Roger vs Richard match as I had no idea they'd be playing each other in Halle.

Very unfortunate for both, especially for Richard whom I think would have done much better in this tournament hadn't he faced Roger so early. It's good that he's still alive in the doubles tournament, hopefully he wins that. It's good preparation for defending his title in Nottingham, which will be hard judging from the Entry List, but certainly possible and for Wimbledon... hm, first we'll have to wish for a better draw.

What a match

:)

I was away for a few days and had only yesterday time to watch my tape Richard/Roger. TV coverage stopped after the first two sets, though :o

Richard should have won the first set. I felt he was more constant and also more creative. Both players mainly played from the baseline, which I considered a pity because both can volley so well.

The second set had more errors from both players, but Richard never looked like being upset after having lost a set he should have won. It was obvious that Roger was committing too many errors, but Richard had the courage to take advantage of this. After having saved matchpoints, a glorious set-point with a drop-shot winner out of nowhere :worship: .I know why I am a Richard-fan, that was gutsy. :) Unfortunately coverage stopped then.

Johansson, a former Australian Open winner and a semifinalist at Wimbledon last year, said that the center court grass was "dangerous" because it was slippery.

"I cannot do more than tell (the umpire) the court is dangerous," Johansson said. "He said the court was new and that was why it was slippery. If the court is like this and they continue to play then someone is going to get injured."

Officials said weather, including light rain, may have made the court slicker than usual, and all precautions were taken to keep the grass covered when necessary.

Gasquet Starts Title Defence With Win

Defending champion Richard Gasquet, who celebrated his 20th birthday just 2 days ago, had to dig deep to win 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 against Spain's Ivan Navarro Pastor.

"It was difficult out there today with the wind and my opponent has a good serve. I'm happy because I won - it's a good feeling and it was a good test." said Gasquet.

"It's important to do well here (to protect ranking points) and it's nice to be back in Nottingham again where I won last year. I won here last year so if I play well, why not again this year! But there are a lot of very good players here so we'll see."

Richard Gasquet also safely progressed through to the next round with a 7-5, 6-3 win against Daniele Bracciali of Italy. Gasquet, who lifted his first ever ATP title on the centre court at Nottingham last year, was in buoyant mood after clinching his quarter-final spot to set up tomorrow's match against fellow Frenchman and world no. 46 Gilles Simon.

He said: "I am very happy to get through because Bracciali is a great player. It's important to be in the quarter-final. It was really difficult today but I served well and played better than yesterday. I played a solid match. Yes, of course I like Nottingham, it's a great tournament for me and I really enjoy playing on the courts.”

Very well done, Richard!
Good scoreline but he must improve his 1st serve % and make fewer double faults.

He needs to serve better in his next match whether he's facing the big server LaLo or the big returner Bjorkman.

 I think Richard will play Soderling in his next match.

Oops! I thought Bjorkman and LaLo were in the top half for some reason. :tape:

Not good! Soderling is the toughest player left in the draw. Richard will have to step up the serving if he wants to have a chance. ALLEZ!

The Israeli partnership of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram are just two matches away from retaining their doubles title at the Red Letter Days Open after the no.1 seeds convincing 6-0, 6-3 defeat of the French pair, Richard Gasquet and Nicolas Mahut. :o

We can't have it all. Better to lose in doubles than in singles. Despite him being consistent down 0-30 in his service games through the match, he still came up with good serves and points to save his ass from a possible break and it paid off. It seems he also played the offensive part and that proved to be quite successful.

Soderling is extremely dangerous when he's on, so I'd like to see Richard bringing out his best game to the court tomorrow and luck will have it that Soderling won't be at his best as well.

Bonne chance, Richard! Allez!
