I don't think it's a very good strategy for Nadal to play this tournament, if he wants to make an impact at Wimbledon. He'll likely play the final at Roland Garros on Sunday, arrive here tired to play on Wednesday on a completely different surface, against a much stronger field than Nottingham or St. Hertogenbosch.

Rafa making his calendar decisions based on money as always.

He should have choosen St. Hertogenbosch or Nottingham or an exibition tournament which is a week after French Open.

Probably stella pay appearence fee for just showing up.(Thailand paid about $500,000 appearnce fee to hewitt and federer last year)

Anyway IMO he should limit his matches on Grass(like Guga did) to avoid career threating injuries which can end his career.

Yeah, it's probably the appearance fees (and the official prize money) that convinced him alone to come. Beijing is another tournament that he likes to play because of the high appearance money, albeit being a tournament that offers only $500,000 in official prize money and few points.

Usually the most successful claycourters start skipping Wimbledon in the second half of their respective careers, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nadal is not serious anymore about it 4, 5 years from now - especially with the clay tournaments right after (Bastad, Stuttgart, etc.).

I would like Paradorn meet Nadal in first round.

I still ensure he can beat Nadal on grass court again as same as in Wimbledon 2003. He will have more time than Nadal almost 2 weeks to adjust himself to grass court (because I ensure that he will lose on first round of French open). Nadal won't have time to adjust himself to grass court if he reach final of French open.

You are right, a wildcard on a brit would be wasted. At least mardy has a chance of making use of it, and has the ability to rise to a much higher ranking and back to possibly the top of the game. Whether or not he is ready, we dont know  but at least its not give to some brit who will get rinsed for sure. I dont think nationality alone should be enough to get you a wildcard anyway.

There are some players who maybe never would have made it big if not for wildcards they got early on. I mean Mardy's one of my most favorite players so I am thrilled he got the WC but if I were a Brit and a fan of the Brits, I'd be kind of annoyed by it.

I would like to see Paradorn defeat Nadal on grass court.I ensure that guy (Paradorn) who never won any match and set on clay court in this year he could defeat another guy (Nadal) who won the longest match on clay court in this year. Paradorn ever won a title on grass court already in Nothingham but Nadal still never could do it. Further more Paradorn has ever defeated Nadal on grass court in Wimbledon already in straight sets.

last year they lessened the draw, i think now the MD seeds have 1st round byes.
so the qualies also has less entrants, last year they only played 4 matches on sunday and i think they were all on at the same time too which was a bit of a pain for watching. The players played 2 matches on Saturday.

maybe they will change it this yearto be more viewer friendly.

The tournament has been a 56 player draw with 8 byes as long as I can remember (at least 15 years). The unfortunate change that was inflicted by the ATP on this tournament and a couple of others (Indianapolis being one I think), is that the number of qualifying positions available was reduced from 7 to 4. :(
