Ivo would play DC if Croatia would just lay down a clay court for the clay court king

"How to waste nine break points, win only 23% receiving points, win less total points than your opponent and still win the match" by Ivo Karlovic :worship:

what a chance for the young russian wasted
he was up a break twice in the second set & had the chance to finish off the match
still a good effort
Ivo is proving he aint just a giant

Imagine if Karlovic draws Coria in Rome or Hamburg (or even Roland Garros). That would be one heck of an amusing match. Not exactly tennis as we know it but fascinating just the same.

Probably the worst match ever! http://www.forum.hr/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Scoreline might be surprising according to the fact Karlovic hasn't been known as a King of Clay before ;) and in case some people already saw Korolev in top ten or somewhere like this, but still it's a 18 y.o. player with a hit-or-miss forehand which can have a bad or a good day, plus with a bunch of nice other shots (maybe Safin-like) which need to be improved because they are not consistent yet. Good luck Evgeni for the future,

and congratulations for Ivo Karlović :)

Karlovic would win easily, he'd hold his serve and never have to return Coria's.

The scoreline of the year. This was Korolev's chance to make a name for himself and he buckled under the pressure. Ivo has been serving out of this world for the whole tournament up until now and Evgeny couldn't even pull out one break of serve despite all his clay court experience.

0/8 and 0/9 BP respectively.

Now Ivo goes up against Stan who hasn't been overly impressive on clay this year. This could be Ivo's big breakout tourney on clay.

It's great to see a different kind of game come to the front on the dirt.

Both players did very well and match could have gone either way. Karlovic served and volleyed great and he was quite consistent for his standards on his baseline display. Evgeny played very well as he has done all the week. Sky is the only limit for this Russian diamond.
