Congrats clay maestro Karlovic, he has defeated Mirnyi and the Poor Mans Kafelnikov and will Korolev be the third Russian speaker to fall down to the ace machine.

Davydenko's form has been awful coming into this match but Karlovic?

Having reached the semi-final of Roland Garros last year, after winning 10 matches in a row on clay. Kolya :smash: seems to have gone from hero to zero.

He didn't even manage to break Ivo once after getting 6 break points.

Congrats Ivo. Not a huge surprise, but quite unexpected nevertheless.

No big surprise here. Davydenko is the most vincible player in the top 10, as much as Henman was a couple of years ago.

I was laughed at & told to get off the board about a month ago when I said Davy was a weak player. Last year, he simply played a bunch of tournaments, got a bunch of nothing wins, benefited from others being injured & moved up to #5. Let's be realistic, he's not that good. Definitely not a top 5-er.

Davydenko is very poor on clay IMO

Your opinion is wrong.

Your opinion is wrong.opinions, by their very definition, can't be wrong :)

Anyway, wasn't Davydenko having some injury concerns? I had read somewhere about a hip....?

here i found it
http://www.tennisnews.com/exclusive.php?pID=11193

"...#2 seed Nikolay Davydenko has been suffering from a sore hip..."

opinions, by their very definition, can't be wrong :)

Sure they can. Like some people have the opinion that they Holocaust never happened. They're wrong.

Sure they can. Like some people have the opinion that they Holocaust never happened. They're wrong. That's not their subjective opinion evaluating the quality of something or someone, that's them trying to state a fact and they can be proven wrong. An opinion is defined as "A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof" - if someone wants to think Davydenko isn't that good on clay, you can post his results to refute that but even those can be subjectively considered. There is no way to prove that his opinion is wrong.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm not in the mood to get into a semantics battle, but I think that he has the right to his opinion without being told he's "wrong"

Scotso
04-26-2006, 07:22 PM
Well if it's my opinion that he's wrong, don't I have a right to that? :p

Ivo to win RG!!

Sjengster
04-26-2006, 07:25 PM
Ah, but if an opinion is not only unsubstantiated but is actually disproved by positive knowledge (ie, Davydenko's results on clay last year and the fact that 3 of his 5 titles have come on clay), can we not say that opinion is wrong?

He's not overplaying himself, kind of hard to be overplaying with three straight first round losses.
