Yay, it rules
:yeah:

In second set Russian qualifier was 2-4 but still own next four games and Moya doesn't have far to go home, if he wants to go there now :p In the last game Moya lost a breakpoint.

Korolev is 18 years old and looking for some breakthrough

Evgueni "My forehand is killing everyone including sometimes myself" Korolev
:yeah:

Hopefully he can go further in this tournament than just the second round. Good days for my 1988's are on. First JMDP wins a challenger, than Mannarino wins a futures, and now Korolev wins with Moya :p

No shame losing to Korolev. I expect him and JMDP to make the biggest breakthroughs ths season.

Moyá played well but Korolev was unstoppable today.

Korolev is definitely a talented player, will get more dangerous as he learns how to harness his power. I didn't know if he liked clay or not, but he certainly seemed to do well today.

It's also in the genes.. Korelev is the first cousin of Anna Kournikova.

Nathaliia
04-25-2006, 02:09 PM
Yes he is, but he has not practised in USA (he visited Anna at Nick's academy when he was 12 but it was a familiar visit and he did not practise there). Hopefully he won't end up marrying a Ricky Martin and posing for magazines.

Evgueni Korolev (RUS, Q) d. Fernando Vicente (ESP) 6-3 6-0 to get into third round

I suppose it didn't deserve a separate thread (especially that I'm not your favourite GM thread starter  ) but surely deserved mentioning :yeah:

Expected this win, but the score is very convincing, especially on clay :yeah:

Yeah 6-0  this always makes an impression!

Now someone from the two: Davydenko (seeded#2) and Karlovic. Most likely Davydenko. In the match between the Russians everything can happen..... looking forward

Davydenko doen't seem to have a lot of success against the other Russians...and his clay season hasn't started too well! Maybe Evgeny will win the match! He already beat Moya and Verdasco, very good claycourters so...;)

Vicente doesn't care he won a challenger in Bermuda and is still jetlagged flying from Bermuda and would have lost to a good player in round 1.

Good result for Korolev and his goal of making the top 100 doesn't seem to distant now and he'd fancy his chances against Ivo or PMK.

Is he
this is only the second time I hear of him

He trains in Nathaliia's bedroom for the most part. :p

But he spends a lot of time in Germany.

Nathaliia

lives in Bavaria (region of Germany) since he's 10 y.o. speaks perfect Russian, German and impressive English.

he's never played junior events and his biggst senior's achievement was QF in Marseille, but he's performing in ATP this year, yet without big successes, eg. qualified and lost in 1st round in Monte Carlo.

and the gossips about my bedroom are not true (especially if my v-love accidentaly comes across this thread :armed: )
