Kaeflnikov withdraws from first Grand Slam of the year.

On polish eurosportnews it was said that he is out from AO and will retire soon.

He said he would retire like a while ago as well.. I think he should've stopped after Russia won the Davis Cup (absolutely not because of him anyway). That was his target, and ever since he really didn't reach the level he used to reach. I do agree with you, Ruski, that in doubles, he can still do well, but he cannot keep up with players such as Woodbridge, Bj÷rkman or even Llodra and Rikl.

If he doesn't play singles I doubt he would compete in doubles at OZ

Can't he just say that he'll retire? I quite like him, but I always get annoyed when players start to withdraw from tournaments, and then after a certain time they say they'll retire. :rolleyes:
