Let's face it, his glory days are over.

I agree. We should not even be talking about this over-the-hill tennis player and his fat girlfriend. I am already trying to forget this loser's name. What is it again?

I know the thread is pretty much in jest, but this makes me think of how strange it must have been to see Borg retire when he was roughly Roger's age (seemingly because McEnroe came along and figured out how to beat him).

Given his potential, if Fed retires now, he will be remember as a monumental failure. So he better keeps trying.

Lose the headband, grow the hair out, and become Switzerland's finest Rock N Roll legend. Maybe draw a fan from MTF and create the first ever ATP/MTF band - "Roger and the Fedtards".

Clearly, there is no other option suitable.

Retire? He sucks so much he should be forced to leave the tour because he is such a disgrace. :)

But until he comes, I better get my head up Nadal's, Ljubo's and Nalbo's asses while there's space in their bandwagons. Rogi's so over.

It would be weird if Federer actually retired soon.

I wish I could only lose to one player and defeat everybody else.

I wouldn't be surprised if Roger doesn't play Rome again.

Rome is on his schedule so I'm hoping he'll play.

I agree with all of the above, however I propose that Roger only be allowed back on tour if he can beat Xristos in an exhibition. Best of five sets, Xristos gets the choice of surface and venue so his legion of fans can cheer him on. That will be the true test to see if Roger is deserving of a place back on tour.

If Fed retires, MTF will be boring.

No more Fedtards to make fun of. :D

Hard to figure out how to beat the admirable Fed.
Poor Nadal enjoys playing him, not because Nadal beat FedIMENSIONAL.

I'd be happy if he didnt play in Rome coz I'll buy tickets for Hamburg but as you said. Its in his schedule and he will surely play. If he and Nadal make it into the final again, Hamburg is doomed. :(

What the hell is that thread ? He reached another final in a masters series on clay. That's excellent! His preparation for the French is perfect. If Nadal does'nt reach the final in the French, Roger will win it for sure. Apparantly the match was great.
Don't kill Roger ! You'll have bad surprises.
Oh my GOD ! 1 major = win. 3 AMS= 2 wins and 1 final on clay (2006).
Oh if loses one more match in his career, he must retire for sure. COME OOOOOOOOOON!

I can see it now... Fed starts to change his game like Andy did with him, starts moonballing, starts standing 3 feet behind the baseline, starts screaming vamos on UE's, completely opposite to his current game...
not only will it not work, he's gonna start losing to journeymen, face a ranking drop, go out in the 1st round of a Slam, starts eating cheetos... etc...

It's Karma, I tell you  What he did to Andy, Rafael will do to him! :p

Hes very good at wimbledon though, probably should try to get better on clay too. Anyways if Nadal is beating him, he should even beat Federer at Wimbledon that would be fun to watch.

The answer is clearly 'YES!'.

But of course a more interesting question is 'When should he retire?' Right now, Federer is still no1 in earnings, by quite a margin. I would expect we will get at least one years notice when he does schedule retirement, so each tournament can earn from the 'last chance to see Federer'.

No, ridiculous how MTF tries to push players into retirement. Players should retire when they are ready

I don't think there are enough Federer retirement discussion threads. Mods should make some more.

We need to study this from EVERY angle.

Speaking of which, Ducky should come out of retirement. Like a reverse from Goaty.

I'm going to start 5 threads so we can discuss it.

Please do. We only have nine current threads about Fed's retirement/decline etc. right now.
