When was the last time Federer was a betting underdog?

It's been a long time since Federer was a betting underdog and I believe he will be a slight underdog against Nadal.

In 2004, I believe he was a favorite against Coria even though Coria had that amazing winning streak on clay. I could be wrong though.

At the 2003 TMC, there were two possibilities:

One, against Roddick because Roddick had secured #1, was coming off of that amazing summer, was on U.S. soil, and had beaten Roger on hardcourts in their previous match.

Two, against Agassi in their first match (round-robin). Federer had never beaten Agassi until that match.

Then there is Wimbledon 2003 against Roddick.

Gamblers, help me out. When was the last time Federer was a betting underdog?

I'm surprised that betfair has him as an early favorite.

Federer was a solid favorite. I think he was at 1.30 or 1.40 in most places.

Yeah, I think this changed throughout the tournament. For outright winner bets, Nadal was the favourite.

LOL Yeah what a joke huh! Who seriously would put fed as a favourite  Everyone knew nadal was the favourite and would most likely beat him.

So, at the beginning of the match against Roddick at '03 Wimby, Roddick was the favorite? Do you remember the numbers? :)

I don't think this was the mentality at the time. In retrospect, yeah, it seems as though Rafa shoud've been the favorite, but there was a lot of doubt whether the youngster would hold up in the biggest stage at such a young age. After that match, Nadal became the favorite on clay for the foreseeable future.

Thanks.

Nadal is now the favorite at Betfair.

No, I'm talking about Monte Carlo '06. On last Sunday, bookies were offering shorter odds for Nadal winning the tournament than Federer. I don't have a clue about Wimby '03. :p

^Oh yeah, no doubt about that. I was talking about individual matches.

Right now Federer is a very slight favorite at Betfair, but it is basically a pick'em.

I felt more sure that Nadal was going to beat Federer at RG last year than I do about tomorrow's match... does anyone else feel the same?

I do! :wavey:

I don't remember Fed being so good on clay! He's been playing much better than he was at MC and RG 05! Maybe in hamburg, as always, he played a high level!

Apparently Federer is being established as the favorite. His blowout wins over everyone this week has impressed.

Apparently Federer is being established as the favorite. His blowout wins over everyone this week has impressed.

he is the second best player on clay, so his performance this week is what i expected..

and yes, federer is still the fav to win according to willhill, though not by much:

federer to win 8/11
nadal to win 1/1

federer to win
3-0 5/1
3-1 3/1
3-2 4/1

nadal to win
3-0 11/2
3-1 4/1
3-2 4/1

incredible odds of @2.00 Nadal tomorrow.. well worth taking, even if i wanna see Fed winning..
Nadal is no1 on clay, 41 unbeaten and clearly has match-up advantage over Fed so far, surprising odds for me but worth at least 20 quid bet on rafa!, maybe 40
dont want to take away too much of the happiness incase of a Fed win.

lol these odds are a absolute steal. this is last time we will see them when these two match up on clay.

w.hills have changed Nadal's odds a few times this week before matches v Coria and Gaudio, they are getting annoying.
