Is he out of tennis now? If so, how long? I just heard alittle bit about him and a failed test, but I have never heard anything else about it

Yes, he'll be out until 2008.

Hopefully he'll return to tennis then.

Oh my that is a long time to be out of tennis  Was it only one test that he failed? We get very little coverage about him in the U.S. so I was never able to follow what actually happened after just hearing he had failed a test.

After many disappointing results, Karol is playing a challenger this week in Heilbronn, Germany. He's through to the QF'S, after crusing Lu, the top seed, 62 60.

Karol is in second round at Kuala Lumpur but faces Verdasco.
Anyway he reached top 100 now its probably a fight to reach near top 70.
He is #85 now.

Karol ultimately finished 2009 ranked in the #114 position after losing some challenger points at the end of the season. This season Karol has performed great on the challenger tour, making 3 finals in as many personal events in a row and winning 2 of the events in Belgrade and Bergamo, moving his ranking up from 139 to 78 and he is currently ranked #87. Unfortunately he pulled a muscle in the Sarajevo final and missed a month, and recently in Ostrava retired in R1 with a right knee injury.

Hopefully Karol comes back on the court healthy and ready to continue to make a charge up the rankings. His next scheduled tournament is Bordeaux next week, if he plays. Good luck to him and his health, and wish great things with his performances in future tournaments!

Karol is in Bordeaux, here is the draw for the event:

http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/3824/mds.pdf

Karol is playing Ramon Delgado in R1, difficult match. If he wins he will play a qualifier in R2 so the opportunity for a QF is there if he plays well against Delgado, and a QF in any clay event is good for Karol given his struggles on the surface. Hopefully he is healthy and fit and has no more issues with his right knee and he can have a good performance in France this week.
