ETA: Now 3-0 up with a double break... A_Skywalker 04-21-2006, 11:51 AM The match is gonna be over soon , I am so sorry for Coria Guybrush 04-21-2006, 11:57 AM Coria really sucks today! He will lose 12 games in a row (after he won the opening 2). WTF is he doing? A_Skywalker 04-21-2006, 11:58 AM He is exhausted ChloeLove 04-21-2006, 11:58 AM I'm not watching the match . . . but the scoreline definitely favors Nadal. What's the match looking like? Is Nadal playing good, and Coria terrible. Or Nadal playing okay, Coria terrible. What is the situation here? Dextertje 04-21-2006, 11:59 AM What's the match looking like? CRAP  lucashg 04-21-2006, 12:02 PM He should've retired. He's hurt and he's hopeless, he doesn't like to give up and may be there also to show some respect to Nadal and the crowd, but there's no need for that IMO. Well Guille, I just hope he gets his serve and confidence back, the rest will come along as he clearly still has the game. He could've done much better in this match, but I guess it's already too much that he got to the QFs with his previous showings. mallorn 04-21-2006, 12:03 PM And Guille gets one of the breaks back... Rafa :smash: artlinkletter 04-21-2006, 12:05 PM On Nadal's serve, Coria has done well to get points. Getting to break points often. It's on his own serve where he just gives away the points. It's disappointing because he would be so much better if he would fix that damn serve. tenniswiz 04-21-2006, 12:05 PM Wow. Poor Coria, he was not feeling well. :awww: kindablue 04-21-2006, 12:05 PM Coria started well, had much les DFs today but Rafa after being two games down had 11 straight sets before being broken since the start of the match to rebreak for the match lucashg 04-21-2006, 12:06 PM I'm not watching the match . . . but the scoreline definitely favors Nadal. What's the match looking like? Is Nadal playing good, and Coria terrible. Or Nadal playing okay, Coria terrible. What is the situation here? That was it. Congrats Guille on breaking Nadal to avoid a bagel in the second set. jenanun 04-21-2006, 12:06 PM congrat rafa! now 40th win on clay!!!!! though i know rafa can win, i dont expect the score like this... i missed last year rome final.... A_Skywalker 04-21-2006, 12:06 PM Nadal is on the semis now zimzim 04-21-2006, 12:07 PM I hope Coria puts his serve together and comes back stronger. I love his game, I love his personality, and I love watching him play. cornellboy 04-21-2006, 12:08 PM YAY! :D Rafa = Fed Killa 04-21-2006, 12:09 PM Yeah Rafa. Number 40 :D mallorn 04-21-2006, 12:10 PM Not the score I would predict, even with Coria's serving problems...but he only won 33% of his first serves and 35% of his second serves. :o Anyway, Rafa's in the SF! :yippee: :yippee: :yippee: daze11 04-21-2006, 12:10 PM yeah, he had energy for about the first 2 games. but look, imagine how much it drained him to make those two long comebacks & deal with the pressures inside that were causing them in the first place. first came the loose errors and then not even chasing a ball out of reach. but he was nice enough to finish instead of withdrawing as it seemed he would at 1-0 in the 2nd when he had the doctor check his blood pressure. i think he was going to faint. get some rest, mister magician...what a brilliant start to the new beginning! Godiva 04-21-2006, 12:14 PM Nice effort by Guille. Let's hope he's in even better form for his next tourney. zimzim 04-21-2006, 12:17 PM Nice effort by Guille. Let's hope he's in even better form for his next tourney. Please what is his next tournament? Nathaliia 04-21-2006, 12:18 PM Nevermind. Monte Carlo shows Coria is back t the game called tennis. If he was back to the game called service, would be soon very well for him, and not well exactly for his opponents. I believe he can get a shape and be ready for a Roland Garros, and especially tournaments int he second part of claycourt season, when many good players will be already facing hardcourts. I see a chance for him in powerplace events like Umag and Sopot. Julio1974 04-21-2006, 12:20 PM The scoreline of the first set is misleading. Many games went to deuce and they played for 42 minutes. But Nadal is simply amazing. In the second set, Coria was exhausted and there was no match. In any case, I'm happy with Coria's performance in this tournament. daze11 04-21-2006, 12:28 PM though i know rafa can win, i dont expect the score like this... i missed last year rome final....well, then it will be worth it for you to check out their play when guille is not on a respirator. otherwise, they always bring out the best in each other & play great matches. today the tank was empty to start with. MariaV 04-21-2006, 12:35 PM I see a chance for him in powerplace events like Umag and Sopot. Umag and Sopot are simply great, no? :D And respect to Guille for not retiring. :yeah: Rogiman 04-21-2006, 12:41 PM Take some heart (not that you lack any) from your wins against all odds, Guillermo, and hopefully you'll again be a force at RG. daze11 04-21-2006, 12:49 PM Please what is his next tournament? open seat in bacelona next week. he has three or four days to rest up. :yeah: star 04-21-2006, 01:01 PM :hatoff: Nadal. Now go and win the whole thing baby boy. :) Coria. quel hombre! :) gusman890 04-21-2006, 01:16 PM aww poor coria. he will be back, just get some rest and do well again ;) Nathaliia 04-21-2006, 01:21 PM Umag and Sopot are simply great, no? :D And respect to Guille for not retiring. :yeah: Umag and Sopot are the places where devil says claycourt-goodnight. They both rock, however I've never been to Umag at the time of the tournament. But i've seen the place and heard enthusiastic comments. And Sopot is :tape: simply cool. You mean retiring from the match or giving up tennis in general  MariaV 04-21-2006, 01:23 PM Umag and Sopot are the places where devil says claycourt-goodnight. Yeap. I watched their other Monte Carlo match in old times when Coria was a 'red-hot-one-to-watch' while Nadal was Mister "Who is he". The score was all way different :) Mago will be back anyway... But he doesn't retire from the matches even if he's not doing well or when he's injured. He retired for the last time once in Canada, it was in 2004 I believe. A_Skywalker 04-21-2006, 01:43 PM And this is Coria shooting Nadal , he did it to say that is the only way of winning against him :) http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/6207/5739336122qp.jpg (http://imageshack.us) Asar 04-21-2006, 02:31 PM I am still hope that Coria is win French Open one time!!!!!!!!! NYCtennisfan 04-21-2006, 02:36 PM No surprise at all in this one. justClaudia 04-21-2006, 02:43 PM Rafa. :) tangerine_dream 04-21-2006, 02:48 PM Huge disappointment from their classic final last year, but congrats to Rafa. :hatoff: Jogy 04-21-2006, 02:54 PM Good that Nadal won this! :) Good job, Nadal! :) Now win the semifinal and kill Federer in the final (if he reaches) :D NATAS81 04-21-2006, 03:35 PM Best news of the day. A_Skywalker 04-21-2006, 03:50 PM Good that Nadal won this! :) Good job, Nadal! :) Now win the semifinal and kill Federer in the final (if he reaches) :D He will reach but he will be crushed into the final by the spanish bull :P Scotso 04-21-2006, 03:55 PM Nice easy win. sonia 04-21-2006, 07:04 PM  Congrats Rafa!!! :yeah: And good luck!!!! :bigclap: Clara Bow 04-21-2006, 07:06 PM Too bad Guille was spent physically, but that's what happens when serves are almost always a liability. Congrats to Rafa for the 40th straight win on clay. Is it just me or have Coria's struggles and abilities to overcome them in the 2nd and 3rd round caused him to leave MC with a few more fans than he came into the tournament with. ChloeLove 04-21-2006, 07:16 PM Rafa :woohoo: 40th win on clay! This wasn't half the match I expected it to be, compared to their previous matches. I hope to see Rafa win MC now. mandoura 04-21-2006, 07:17 PM Too bad Guille was spent physically, but that's what happens when serves are almost always a liability. Congrats to Rafa for the 40th straight win on clay. Yes. Is it just me or have Coria's struggles and abilities to overcome them in the 2nd and 3rd round caused him to leave MC with a few more fans than he came into the tournament with. I've always been a fan but, I agree, I think so too. :) oneandonlyhsn 04-21-2006, 07:44 PM Guille :sobbing: still much better than I expected. Rest up and get ready to kick some more ass musefanatic 04-21-2006, 10:19 PM well done rafa :) MariaV 04-22-2006, 09:35 AM Too bad Guille was spent physically, but that's what happens when serves are almost always a liability. You know Betty reported he was very nice with the kids and in the matches in MC I saw he wasn't whining or complaining or anything like before. I haven't been a fan but I've actually always had respect for him and I sure have even more respect now. :yeah: I think he's 'grown up', 'matured' with these shoulder problems perhaps. | |
