Just too good and very solid from Ljubicic. Played his usual stuff, a few great moments were enough for him. Not much chance for Simon in that match who can play better, but didn't today. I think he was broken by Ljubicic five games in a row?!

edit: Another clay QF Masters for Ljubicic since Hamburg 2004 (semis).

Ljubo is too good these days, only a few guys can beat him and anything but a SF here would be dissapointing.

Not true. I'm happy with the 125 clay points he get right now ;)

if Gonzo beats Soderling, then that will be a big test for Ljubicic's clay credentials

True. Gonzo is a big name on clay, and he would surely be the favourite in that match. Time for Ljubo to see if he is also a big on clay ;)

Gonzalez barely won againts Lopez yesterday, so im expeceting Soderling to be Ljubicic`s opponent. Gonzo was beaten by Ancic on clay last season.

What has Gonzo done on clay? Not much really...

Is Ljubicic really that good a clay court player. I don't really know his results over the course of his career but last year was sorely disappointing. I am surprised that he's playing so well this year but in all fairness he has improved all around in his game and it shows. I seriously doubt, tho, if last year was any measure of his clay court prowess, that he can threaten any of the real dirtballers.

Good for him getting to this point.

Very solid performance from Ljubicic on his worst surface............he's showing the strength of a top 5 player...........Pity, however, I think Gonzo may be too much for him tomorrow.........

A QF was always going to make me happy and make me deem the event a success for Ljubo. He has that now so I'm satisfied... if he can beat Gonzo/Soderling tomorrow then even better

Ajmo!

A lot of talk on MTF about Ivan going away once the clay season started but that has not turned out to be the case. Same big serve, good groundstrokes, taking his opportunities at the net...SF is easily within reach. Ivan is just too good right now.

LOL González has to beat Soderling  first, something he's never done before. And I'm not sure about his current form.

I 2nd that; I think Ivan can make the semis in this event. I saw a little of 2 of his matches on the Tennis Channel and his serve and groundstroke are almost as effective as hardcourt!

I'll be very happy for Ljubicic if he makes the SF.......... Slowly, but surely, he's inching toward that no.3 position and I'll be very happy to see him there if he achieves it :)

Credit where dredit is due. Ivan has proved many who believed he would fold in the face of clay are being proved wrong and Ivan deserves all the points he is picking up. It takes guts to come out and play as the fast court player that he is and it takes skill to leave with a commanding victory. Ivan showed both of these qualities and I wish him all the best in this tournament.

Nobody with any sense thought he would fold when the clay season came around considering his results on it in the past; last year was very much the exception that proves the rule. He's now made the QFs of every clay TMS, something only a select handful of active players have managed. And a lousy claycourt player wouldn't have wins on clay against Federer and Gaudio (back-to-back), Ferrero, Ferrer and Coria (back-to-back), Chela, Zabaleta, Robredo, Portas, Verkerk, Pavel... I think that's enough proof of his credentials on this surface.

as I recall it well, ljubo stated after the DC match against Austria that only a few know that he actually likes to play on clay..
