Ivan didnt face BP in 1st or 3rd set, had 3bps to start 2nd set, andreev savedd all of them, Andreev served for 2nd at 5-3, got broken at love, then broken Ivan at *30-40 for the set.

Ivan played good overall match, but had a shitty 2nd set, when he got broken 3 of last 4 service games, on good side, he did break Andreev back 2 of those 3 times

BP
ivan 5/11
Andreev 3/6 all in 2nd

Who cares.. I remember the first time I've heard about Ljubicic was when he beat Kafelnikov in Monte Carlo in 1999 or so.. And? Kafelnikov is still a legend. Ljubicic? Still pretty much a nobody. Who cares about this mickey mouse tournament..

Did somebody say that Ljubicik is better then Kafelnikov? Or what is your point? Are you on drugs?

I don`t care about Ljubicic, but this is not mickey mouse tournament.

where were you during Ivan last 5 majors

Madrid F
Paris F
AO- QF
IW- QF

i would say you care about Ljubicic, since you have been worried about him for past few years, must be killing you that he is #4, and has winning record vs "the legend" Kafelnikov

lol

if Ivan knocks out Nadal, (i dunno if they are even in the same half), THEN Ivan will deff. back him self up as the no.2 for beating the no.2 on his FAV surface.

Very good win for Ivan. Andreev is no pushover on any surface but is especially good on clay. Ivan served like he was on hardcourts in the 1st and 3rd sets.

A result of mediocrity, if you ask me. :wavey:

Leave this one to yourself to enjoy.. You won't have many of those.. :wavey:

No.. Just memoiries.. From the times when the tennis Internet resources were scarce, and probably none of you guys were around.. But even then, after that win, there were tons of Croatians who instantly declared him "new Goran".. Same fools, who did the same two years later when another Croatian mediocrity fluked out a win over Federer..

I don`t care about Ljubicic, but this is not mickey mouse tournament.

This would be the same Federer that you called a poor man's Kafelnikov at the time and described as "an all-court player with no real weapons"?

He is overrated, definitely.. He is an allcourt player with no real weapons. Pretty much like, say, Kafelnikov, except that I don't think he is as good as Kafelnikov. If he is not in his best form, anybody can beat him. His serve is not big, his volley is not of Rafter or Sampras class. One-handed topspin backhand is generally no good for any surface other than clay. And his forehand is not a killer shot either. If even one component of his allcourt game is off, he is in trouble.

Normally I would say that it's pretty weak to go back and find something that someone said a long time ago said and bring it back up, but with a poster as arrogant as ys, perhaps it should be done. How can anyone watch Federer at any time and say that his FH is not a killer shot? Even when he was losing to everybody he would hit FH winners from all over the place.

Rogi will prove the nay-sayers wrong. It doesn't have to be today. But soon. You will all see! Wait and watch!

I know hindsight is a marvellous thing, but come on, no weapons - if I had been around at the time I would still have laughed at that statement. And it's relevant to the discussion in this thread anyway, because it goes to show how players change and improve with time; hence, it's unreasonable for ys to sneer about Ljubicic based on his past results from previous years. I'm not implying he's going to improve to the level Federer did, but he is already a better player and can still go further.

When did master series events become majors; possibly you could classify the Masters Cup as a major, but then Ivan did not do too well there - a slight problem with David  .
