Monfils looked lost at times and wasn't exactly sure what to do, he wasn't his usual aggressive self, and was getting dictated by a 5 ft 5 player!

Oli played solid tennis and he deserved to win no question.

Well this is definitely a shock to me! Not.

Monfils again failing to live up to the expectations and the hype, I have been saying this for a while now and yet everyone doubts my knowledge. Well itís time to start believing me people.

More proof of just how big of a heart Rochus displays in the late sets.

But seriously Gael, 7/24 BP? Like, OMG!

Well, the good news is that Gael has only challenger points to defend till Wimbledon... Every win in a MS or in Roland will be an improvement!
So wake up man! ALLEZ! :bounce:

I have really enjoyed watching this little guy play :yeah: He is a great player to watch.

Saw him against federer (for the first time), a few weeks and was impressed with his play! For a tiny guy, he seems to have quite powerful shots on both sides :D He was bossing the points today against monfils and dictating play.

I think anyone who gets the chance to see Ollie play is really entertained. He puts his heart and sould in to his matches. I try to see as many of his matches as I can. I'm glad you have discovered him too.

:bigclap: Ollie!

Does anyone believe Monfils will become a contending player and will he ever translate his athleticism to his game?

Agree.......... But I haven't heard the term "cornrows" used in so long.........and rarely in America........ :D Anyway, I was so disappointed Monfils went out so early. But, Olli is a good player, so it was bound to be a difficult match.............

But, Olli is a good player, so it was bound to be a difficult match.............what's the proper term? It's the only one I've ever heard. What he's got are cornrows, not dreads...dreads are different. Well whatever we call them, they're still hideous :D

Congratulations Ollie, yet another gutsy performance!! He totally confused Monfils with his speed and varied playing style and ran the bigger guy totally ragged. Monfils hasn't made the major strides that everyone (including myself) predicted and after having won at Sopot in the Summer of 2005 he seems to have taken a few steps backwards. This does not bode well but he has time on his side and the benefit of an excellent team around him.Thierry Champion is a superb coach and the physical trainers employed by the FFT are second to none. My admiration for Ollie grows and grows and his backhand down the line is not only a destructive weapon...it's a thing of beauty.

Usually, people say his hair is braided. The term Cornrows was the one I heard in the Caribbean all the time, and it's the term used by those I know from the area........ There isn't a correct term. It's just the word used, I smiled because I hadn't seen someone use it in a long time. But, hey, that's just me........ I could be wrong and it is a more frequently used word in the US.
