Didn't we already establish that they do?

Yes of course they already have major issues..but I really don't think they would actually do that..at least I don't think they would

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 02:26 AM
Chesty is better at this than me so I'll leave the updates to her!

I wasn't planning on updating I just thought it was a nice start to the match lol :p

Lisbeth

Maybe if you're really lucky they'll replay Roddick matches from last year - USO final, El Anouyi etc. That should kill 5 hours.

Chesty Larue

Maybe if you're really lucky they'll replay Roddick matches from last year - USO final, El Anouyi etc. That should kill 5 hours.

Yeah no kidding

I so wish USA network had coverage of this instead :( They were great at the US Open..they showed matches based on seed more than nationality.

What other slams does ESPN have rights to?

Murkofan
01-20-2004, 02:30 AM
If it rains, I would expect nothing less. Nevermind that live play would be going on in Laver and Vodafone.

Murkofan
01-20-2004, 02:30 AM
All of them except the USO. *vomits*

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 02:32 AM
You could lobby to get Channel 7 I suppose. Then you'd get a shitload of Lleyton but at least they don't repeat his matches while other interesting matches are still on. I think they mainly show centre court or Court 1 unless it's an Aussie or a really big match up.

Chesty Larue
01-20-2004, 02:32 AM
All of them except the USO. *vomits*

oh Lord no! :sobbing:

Didn't NBC have Wimbledon? Not that I imagine they would be a great leap up :p

Scotso
01-20-2004, 02:33 AM
All but Wimbledon I think.

Murkofan
01-20-2004, 02:34 AM
No Channel 7 in America, Jane :p

I don't think so. If I'm not mistaken, ESPN has the first three slams (its taken over Wimbledon and RG from TNT over the last few years, unfortunately) and USA/CBS has the USO.

*remembers fondly the days when HBO had Wimbledon coverage*

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 02:34 AM
Ll leads 3-1.

Nalby serving for the match.

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 02:35 AM
I hope Malisse-Kucera goes for a really really long time.

Chesty Larue
01-20-2004, 02:35 AM
Ancic just tied it up at 2 sets all against Sluiter..that looks like a decent match..all the sets have been close :)

Murkofan
01-20-2004, 02:36 AM
I just remembered NBC does show some Wimbledon, but they don't have exclusive rights to it. ESPN is an affiliate of ABC, and USA of CBS, so who does that leave? Does TNT still broadcast Wimbledon?

Scotso
01-20-2004, 02:36 AM
Kiefer lost :(

I think you're right, Marly. USA has the US Open. They're not bad... well, not good but better than ESPN.

Wimbledon on HBO was WONDERFUL.

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 02:36 AM
I know that, I was suggesting you could lobby to get it in America. Freedom of choice and all that. But you'd probably get sick of our commentators and all the Wayne Arthurs/Nicole Pratt coverage after a while

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 02:37 AM
Someone has commadeered a tv for half an hour. I'm off to watch some of this match!

Murkofan
01-20-2004, 02:37 AM
If we can't manage to get The Tennis Channel, there's no way we're getting a feed from a country halfway around the world :p It's a nice thought, though.

USA is wonderful compared to ESPN.

Scotso
01-20-2004, 02:38 AM
Are you sure TNT doesn't still have Wimbledon? Did it lose the rights for this year, but have them last year? I can't remember, I didn't see much of Wimbledon.

Go Mario!

Scotso
01-20-2004, 02:39 AM
Arthurs is gonna lose now

Murkofan
01-20-2004, 02:39 AM

USA is wonderful compared to ESPN.

They really were..I thought their coverage was very fair. Everybody got a little bit of air time..it was a nice change from Usa-R-Us :p

TNT does right a bell for Wimbly..but I can't remember what their coverage was like

Murkofan
01-20-2004, 02:41 AM
Are you sure TNT doesn't still have Wimbledon? Did it lose the rights for this year, but have them last year? I can't remember, I didn't see much of Wimbledon.

Go Mario!

I do think TNT still has Wimbledon, because NBC shows the finals, and they're not going to interrupt their high-quality soap operas to show the early rounds. And since it's ABC/ESPN and CBS/USA, that leaves TNT to match up with NBC.

Scotso
01-20-2004, 02:41 AM

Lleyton blew some chances. Come on Lleyt, finish him 6-2 6-0 6-0.

Okay right now I'm off to jump around a bit to wake up and maybe make a doodoo and then read some shit for my class tomorrow and I'll be back, shouldn't be long and maybe by then Lleyton will be near :D

Murkofan
01-20-2004, 02:48 AM
Thank you.

I've just noticed that Rubin has started, so odds are high they'll go to her match  Not that I mind Chanda at all. It's the principle of the thing.

Chesty Larue
01-20-2004, 02:49 AM
Lleyton stop blowing your break chances :(

Murkofan

Chesty Larue
01-20-2004, 03:09 AM
Malisse getting his ass kicked

Ancic pulls out the 5 setter ;)

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 03:09 AM
OK, well I just watched about 3 games of it, and while I wouldn't say he's playinf perfect tennis there are some great signs. Mainly that he's running for every ball, even up 4-2 he was determined to break Mamiit's serve. Plus, he hit an ace at Ad Mamiit, and best of all the cap's
on backwards and he's doing the hyperactive string pulling thing.

He's clearly feeling energetic and motivated.

Scotso
01-20-2004, 03:09 AM

Well that's the last time I say nice things about Lleyton while's he playing. Now it's 3-3! C'MON KID, BREAK!

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 03:22 AM
Oh, Scot, I should have asked are you seeing it live or tape delayed. Because if it's delayed you might not want me to say scores.

Chesty Larue
01-20-2004, 03:23 AM
Yeah seriously..where is the break Lleyton!

Scotso
01-20-2004, 03:29 AM

Chesty Larue
01-20-2004, 03:40 AM
but that's later :p
who's first anyways- scud or Kim?
oh- the other guy's injured  ran into the umpire's chair

Kim's up first ;) She still has to prepare for her match.

Mamiit ran into the umpire's chair?! What did he hurt?..beside's his pride I assume :p

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 03:41 AM
Kim's first, I am pretty sure, because I remember noticing she would probably be done before our coverage starts. Don't worry folks, she rarely goes to watch when she's still in - at least in the early rounds. She's probably having physio or carb loading or practising or whatever they do.

How can you hate Wayne Arthurs, he's so inoffensive!

I was hoping Kucera-Malisse would be a whole lot more exhausting than this.

C'mon Lleyton, keep up the good work.

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 03:43 AM
Oh dear, that's 3 opponents in a row to hurt themselves. people will be staying right away from Lleyton.

I can see the press conference "Well I would have liked to take on lleyton in the third round but you know I really had to think about the fact that I have a season to play".

Danni
01-20-2004, 03:43 AM

Scotso
01-20-2004, 03:47 AM
who cares :p a win is a win... Lleyton just wore him out.

Chesty Larue
01-20-2004, 03:47 AM
so now it's a mere 3 and a half hours to Kim's match :p

Lisbeth
01-20-2004, 03:57 AM
Well I'm glad Lleyton won but I'm not sure quite so many short matches are a good thing. Still, 2 sets is OK I guess and he would have won the third eventually.

Scotso
01-20-2004, 04:02 AM
I hope I won't be awake in that many hours :o

Hi Danni.... are you feeling as :unsure:as I am? :o

Danni
01-20-2004, 07:50 AM
Yeah a little, and they don't start coverage for another hour, and then they're showing the Scud match first  I wish I could at least see how she's playing :(

Angele
01-20-2004, 07:52 AM
Well according to the stats she's got 3 winners and 9 errors  The match is still on serve, 2-1*

Danni
01-20-2004, 07:53 AM
Do you have coverage, or are you relying on the scoreboard too?

Angele
01-20-2004, 07:54 AM
I'm relying on the scoreboard  I'd like to be able to see how she's playing :(

Angele

Angele
01-20-2004, 08:12 AM
Did ya know that Todd Reid made only 5 unfoirced errors in his whole match today  And kim's made 17 so far :o
Really?

:yeah: for Todd but  for Kim... she just won the first set though :yeah: And her winners are slowly starting to catch up to her errors ; 14 to 20 atm so it's not too bad.

Danni
01-20-2004, 08:12 AM
:woohoo: first set without too much fuss

Danni
01-20-2004, 08:13 AM

:yeah: for Todd but  for Kim... she just won the first set though :yeah: And her winners are slowly starting to catch up to her errors ; 14 to 20 atm so it's not too bad.
perhaps she was just really tentative at first, she'll probably relax and play a bit better now.....I hope...

Danni
01-20-2004, 08:16 AM
yes, got the early break!

Angele
01-20-2004, 08:18 AM
perhaps she was just really tentative at first, she'll probably relax and play a bit better now.....I hope...
I hope so! Her first matches in a slam always have a lot of errors though so it doesn't necessarily mean that her ankle is bothering her or anything like that... right now she's got 16 winners to 22 errors and she's up 2-0!

Danni
01-20-2004, 08:20 AM
another break :bounce: 3-0

Angele
01-20-2004, 08:21 AM
Now 18 winners and 23 errors... that's only 5 in difference, I'd say that's normal for Kim in the early stages of a slam!

Angele
01-20-2004, 08:23 AM
4-0 :yeah:

Angele
01-20-2004, 08:29 AM

I saw that Lley won when Mamitt retired, but he was winning before that anyway - was he playing well???

nice to see you, hope you're enjoying europe

I saw Ll at about 4:30 this morning...*feels a bit demented*

His conditioning looks great. Mamiit looked like he was about to expire and Lleyton wasn't really breathing hard. They only showed the second set and Lleyton looked a bit tight, missed a couple of easy putaways...plus Mamiit was working very hard. At the end of the set, Lleyton started playing much more aggressively. He broke at love, I think and then hit a couple of aces serving out the set. The injury point occurred when Mamiit tried to run down a beautiful crosscourt drop volley.

Haven't seen Kim yet, but someone in wtaworld said she even did a sliding split during the match, so it seems she's fine.:)

Hi Danni! Nice to see you too.

I hate not being able to see the game. I have read over some of the statistics on the Aus Open website, Kim seemed to have quite a few unforced errors. I hope her ankle / foot problem isn't going to be a problem. I am very glad she has got a win under her belt though and like you said, hopefully she will just improve as the tournament progresses.

I know I seem very out of touch with the tennis world (blame 2 weeks with no TV or internet!) but I take it that Serena isn't playing the AO??? Is she still recovering from her knee surgery???

kim: UE are part of her game, i wouldn't worry too much at this stage considering her lack of competition; re splits i think i would be harder for her no to do them

serena: she said that her preparation was not what it ought to be so she preferred not to take part

That's true Danni, I guess I am already thinking the worst :o but I tend to do that :o I know we don't really have a clear idea as to what the problem acutally is, but I have terrible thoughts that she'll pull her achilles tendon in the middle of a match :o

I'm on liquids until I'm unwired, which hopefully will be in two weeks which is when my next appointment is. I'm alright... I don't have too much pain anymore, except when I sneeze, yawn, etc... The worst thing right now is the swelling. That's what's keeping me away from school still. My head feels kind of heavy still because of the swelling so I can't like look down too much and I can't move my head too much. Like being at the computer is fine because I can hold my head up and look at the screen, same for the tv. But like last night I played two quick games of cards at the kitchen table and I had to stop because I was getting a headache and feeling light headed :( I was hoping to be able to write my exams but that seems very unlikely at the moment :( Exams start in less than a week so I've got about 6 days to catch up on everything I missed while I was away plus study everything else that we did during the year. If this damn swelling could just go away and I could function as normal I could start getting back into my school work but right now I just can't :(

If I couldn't come on the computer I would have lost my mind by now :o I swear it's what's keeping me sane lol

Right now the most frustrating part is that I don't see any improvement. For the first week I could see improvement everyday. The swelling was going down and I had more and more energy. But the last few days it's just like the same  Hopefully it'll be gone soon but I really don't know if it will.

Well I'm not worrying too much about exams because I've got permission not to write them. The principal said that it was up to me and if I couldn't write them they'd simply make my marks without the exams so I wouldn't lose any points off my marks or anything. There's no real rule or regulation for things like this, it's pretty much up to the principal to decide. If my marks were near failing then I'd have to write them because the exam could make a big difference in me passing or not but since my marks are good they said that it was ok and not to worry about it :)

:woohoo: What could be better???? :)

Yeah. You've hit a little plateau, but it won't stay that way. You are going to feel better all the time. Maybe it just won't be as dramatic as it was at first.

And you still are getting rid of the anesthtic from your body.

Next week will be better still. And the exams. Pffft!

I know that if you had understood the gravity of this whole recovery, you would have scheduled it differently, but in the long run, it will all work out.
Well my surgery was originally supposed to be done in the third week of June 2003. I can only say thank god it wasn't done then because I don't even want to imagine what would of happened when my boss would of found out that I had to miss 4 weeks of work instead of just two :o The next date after that was September 10th which probably would of worked out perfect. It would of been during school but there was no way that I was going to be able to plan it not during school. Then this date was just kind of given to me, we didn't really have much choice. If we cancelled the January date who knows when I would of been able to get another.

I thought that line was pretty clever as well :o And you know you and I are two of a kind, doesn't take much to get my mind in the gutter either ;)

Ange, stuff the exams then! Rest, relax, get totally better and then go back at school with a clean start, not having to catch-up on anything.
That's probably what I'll end up doing. There is some stuff that I'll have to catch up on though because next year it'll come back to haunt me :o Like I've missed a whole section is chemistry so that I'll definetly have to learn. It's not too bad though!
