Thanks for explaining to everyone. It was one of the more aggressive racquet smashings I have seen in a while. Reminded me of Safin and Ivanisevic.

I think, although he was already angry with the match in general, it was that last point which pushed him over the edge. For those that didn't watch on match point Verdasco was battering the ball but Simon kept getting back playing great defence and then Verdasco just hit too long.

A good workman never smashes his tools :p

Perfect picture. He did it with real passion...the way it should be done! I have always thought that instead of warning players for doing that, it would be cool for the umpire to take the racquet and give it to a young boy or girl in the crowd instead.

Well in Cinci after losing a doubles match I saw a player smash his racquet then throw it away. 2 preteens went to take it out of the trash and the player played tug of war with them. It was funny and sad all at the same time:( The player won the war btw.

You saying that Fernando is an enigma implies that you think he should have won this match. Personally I had Gilles down as the favourite

Noooo. I like Gilles but Fernando should be beating him more often than not on a claycourt. That said, I did bet on Gilles

Verdasco is such a headcase, it doesn't surprise me. He needs a new attitude or he won't have much success.

I was front and center about 2 feet away. The tug of war lasted a few minutes only and the player won. I asked him why he did not just give it to the kids as he had thrown it away. He replied "they did not ask me if they could take it" ;) I was more like WTF? then laughing. :p

 Even though he had thrown the racquet in the trash and did not want it? He just put it in his bag, walked away, and that was that. His doubles partner ( they had never played together before that day btw ) also said to him "give it to them". It was really bizarre. Ok end of story. :wavey:

Would critique your threads, but you did bring MTF 'tits and ass.'

His reaction was unusual. Seconds before congratulating his opponent, he repeatedly hammered his racquet down onto the court, smashing it.

Thanks for those pictures!!! I mean if you bash a racket you better do it well and with lots of passion

I'm not surprised he was this pissed off after the match.......He wanted to win this BADLY and would have too...... injuries suck! :ras:

I brought MTF much more than "tits and ass." MTF is now wiser when it comes to desi chicks, and the women in Dallas. ;)

So Andre Agassi smashes a racket and he's called every criminal name in the book.

Verdasco does it after losing and it's "cool."

Typical MTF hypocrisy.

I was wondering where you were going with this...

Spot on. Typically, only the women receive as much attention without achieving anything.

Interesting stuff! :yeah:
Give that player a yellow card! But give his doubles partner a http://67.19.129.138/mtf/images/icons/icon14.gif !

And I think throwing racquet isn't a really big issue,it's not only Safin's patent, all players are just humans.
