Their position in the draw is correct. Ljubo as #4 seed gets a seed from the 13-16 range (Berdych #16) and Davydenko as #5 seed gets a seed from the 9-12 range (Gonzalez #12).

Who know how long to trevel by plane from Thailand to Monaco? I am afraid that Paradorn Srichaphan will be there in time or not because he got the ticket to leave Thailand on Sunday 10 p.m.(Thailand time) according to long holidays in Thailands which cause very difficult to find the ticket earlier than this. (Monaco time is about 5 p.m Sunday)

Roger can spank most players around a court like that. I could say Novak would win 6-0 6-0, but that's just silly.

ok , I don't get it. Where is the confidence as a fan?
I believe it will be a tight match and Djo can win it. Even if he loses he'll learn a lot . Besides he is young and needs experience with as many different players and styles and playing against the best at this level will make him a better player ;)

Good to see Nole didn't tank his last round of qualies.

Haas has withdrawn and since Nole was #1 he'd have got the Lucky Loser spot.

Can anyone have confidence when he is playing FEDERER? I mean, sure the guy has to lose a second match eventually this year...

...or does he?

Sjengster
04-16-2006, 06:04 PM
Honestly though, I think it will be tight - for a first match on clay there are many more players Federer would have wanted to face than Djokovic, he has the talent to make life very difficult indeed for the former. I mean come on, last year he faced Rusedski in the first round, that was the ideal soft opener.

Federer doesn't normally win early round matches 0 and 1 at the best of times. Have to say good OOP tomorrow and players I like, too bad it will be delayed here cause of a stupid cricket match.

I will be writing reports on the blog, easier that way. This field has a distinct lack of claycourt clowns apart from the Srich, Bracciali and Rusedski which is a good thing, though Ivo would like to play at altitude.

Ok, I am actually semi-serious here on that comment.

Nole is playing Federer, who is expected to take his beating.

My problem Gaudio hates playing S/Vs, he plays Henman and though Henman is more toothless tiger these days. Unlike other compatriots Gaudio struggles against him and I can see a straight sets loss and that's not good, when it's a guy's worst surface and your players best surface and the chance of losing is very high.

Here is the draw breakdown by country:
France - 10 players
Spain - 8
Russia - 7
Italy - 6
Argentina - 5
Belgium - 4
Czech Republic - 3
United Kingdom - 3
Chile - 2
Croatia - 2
Monaco - 2 (This is the first time I've seen a "MON" beside a player's name)
Serbia and Montenegro - 2
Switzerland - 2
Belarus - 1
Finland - 1
Germany - 1
Peru - 1
Romania - 1
Slovak Republic - 1
Sweden - 1
Thailand - 1

OK, here's a trivia question for everyone (since I don't know the answer myself). When was the last major tournament (Masters Series or Grand Slam) where there were ZERO Americans in the draw?

There aren't any Americans in the doubles draw or qualifying draw either. Weird huh?
