Today the ties for the 2006 Daviscup Playoffs were drawn. Germany will face Thailand. That's a really great thing, cause they can play in Germany too. Thailand has nobody besides Paradorn so that should be a win :yeah:
The other ties are:

Austria - Mexico, Netherlands - Czech Republic, Rumania - South korea, Slowak Republic - Belgium, Spain - Italy, Brazil - Sweden and Switzerland - Serbia and Montenegro

Well since the one was about when Germany was playing for the Cup and now they are in what do they call it a sub-group--no that isn't what it is called  Anyway you can just change your title to show somehow that Germany isn't playing for the 2006 Davis Cup now. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say

He is...not that young now! :p
I'd rather Paradorn draw with those players that I don't like. :bigcry: I thought his game was boring before, but actually it's very amazing esp in Indian Wells, :hearts: I would like to see his matches more. :bigclap:

My goodness I have never seen a male tennis player that could do that  I mean Kim can, but she is a woman tennis player. And I think she is the only woman tennis player that can do a split  I guess tennis players'
ages get away from me. I don't get to see him play very often and when I first saw him play, I guess he was actually young. Or maybe he just looked young, I don't know

I don't mean they play anything alike and they certainly don't look anything alike, but they both lose Matches that they should win  Sometimes Matches they should easily win. (I must say Andy is way ahead of Tommy in that Department). Tommy has got to get himself back together

I have never really gotten a good look at her. I don't get much tennis coverage  And I only watch Roger when he is playing certain players so I have only seen the camera flash on her a few times. And I do mean "flash" so I don't guess she is much to look at because usually the camera people keep the camera on the girlfriend for some time. Because normally the players all have good-looking girlfriends.

However, at the end of the Match he seemed to be having a problem with his foot. So I hope he will be alright. And that Germany will win and be back in the World Group

Unbelievable...I don't know what happened with Tommy. Now it's difficult for Germany because Srichaphan leads too, maybe a wrong decision to chose clay (in memory of Belarus).
Yes indeed when I went to the Davis Cup site and saw they were going to be playing on Clay I almost fell in the floor  I mean the U.S. is going to have to play on clay, but the Russians got to make that decision. And if I were a DC Team that got to choose where to put the U.S. I would put them on clay also. But Germany made this decision!
And their #1 player Tommy is much better on hard courts.
That decision makes no sense to me at all  I don't know who made the decision, but it was a bad one :(

it was the best possible decision, Thais are useless on clay
Paradorn hasnt won a match on clay since beating Wessels in 2005
the Tommy of today would have lost to Udomchoke on every other surface also, it was just a pathetic uninspired performance

Mayer played pretty awful today also
the returns that landed at the bottom of the net :help:

time for Waske/Kohlmann to be the heros again

Schüttler/Greul/Phau/Berrer or even Abel and Elsner would lead 2-0.

I only saw a couple of points of Haas and only the last six games of Mayer, but can it be that both played like idiots? Maybe it looked better live than on TV, but I thought that's not even top 200.

Then I think there was something wrong with Tommy. yumo posted some pictures in here that looked like Tommy was having a leg or foot problem. I saw him play on TV at the U.S. Open and at his last Match there his foot was giving him problems.

I just went to the Davis Cup Site. And maybe I found the German wisdom in the situation. They set the Tie up not for their number one player Tommy, but for their #2 player Mayer. I didn't know anything about him until I read that he had a good record on clay courts. And Mayer did indeed win today. So the Tie is 1-1. So it falls to the Doubles team to win and then get another Singles win or get two Singles wins. This is getting to be very interesting! Almost too interesting

I feel like I'm talking to myself, but after doing some reading at the DC Site I was right. Tommy was hurt. The story said he seemed to be having problems with his thigh. Which, of course, would hurt Tommy's movement on any surface. The story said Tommy had an hour's treatment after the Match. My hope now is that the Doubles team will win and Mayer can win again. I would hate for the Tie to come down to Tommy having to try to win a Match when he isn't 100%

But first of all Waske/Kohlmann should beat this Thai twins today.

Thank goodness they did :D Now all Germany needs is one Singles victory :) I know Tommy would love to get it himself, but he is not 100% healthy. So I hope it won't come down to Tommy having to win before Germany can win the Tie.

look at Waske, he's like a giant Teddy bear. No wonder, he is heavy to carry around. But I got a great pic of the carrying :) I will post all the good pics here later, as I'm not at home now.

Hi all you! :wavey:
Bad that I was ocupied and could not go to forum for longer time and follow Davis Cup enough. Was shock that Tommy lost on Friday, but I'm glad team won it at end! :) :yeah:

Next year will need big effort and they need Tommy and Kiefer in best against Croatia for singles. Waske has not chance against a class-player like Ljubicic or Ancic I think. Mayer will be over-powered by Croats I think.

Surface choose is difficult for tie! What to do?

TommyB.
09-30-2006, 12:57 PM
Nice pics Alexia!:D

I don't know what happens with DC next year. We'll see.

If we have a team with Kiwi and Tommy I would choose a hardcourt. It's their best surface. No clay please!;)

JMG
09-30-2006, 01:11 PM
I would say Rebound Ace again. I fear they will continue playing with Waske in doubles, so there would be only one more place in the team. If they played on a fast surface, I wouldn't nominate Mayer. Maybe even Becker or Zverev could be a choice then. They have at least the constant good serving. We have to wait what happens at the Australian Open.

The picture were great :D And I know Tommy was down about his Singles' loss even if he was hurt  I hope they can get the team together. I picked up some bad vibes from this team. Like when they were talking to Mayer after his victory he said he didn't think Tommy Haas could beat Paradorn. He didn't say anything about Tommy being injuried and the way he said Tommy Haas I thought was unusual. Why didn't he just call him Tommy?

JMG:
Of course they should continueing with Waske in doubles. Waske Kohlmann have a good doubles played and won everything at World Team Cup and very easy against that clowns of Thailand too.
It would be a crap when they make a complete new doubles now after they have success doubles with WaskeHaas and WaskeKohlmann
