2004 Schedule

Iza

Do u know his schedule for nest year? Or at leat for January? I know he's gonna play Hopman Cup (hope he wins w/Myskina) but I dunno what's next.

Jessi
12-12-2003, 08:57 PM
Marat hasn't announced yet his schedule for next year. The best way to find out is to check commitment lists. But as far as January, we know he's playing Hopman Cup and AO and most likely one tune up event which will be either Sydney or Auckland. Although i read that Auckland tournament organizers are hoping to snab him for their event.

Here is the article

More big names lined up for Auckland

Tournament organisers still chasing some big names, including a top 20 player, for the Heineken Open in Auckland

Heineken Tennis Open organisers have not given up on the possibility of former world number one Marcelo Rios returning for January's tournament.

Rios has battled injuries in recent seasons and has slipped down the rankings so would need a wildcard to play in Auckland.

Tournament director Graham Pearce says they will not know about Rios until the last minute.

Pearce says there are some timing issues in terms of him having to commit to come here.

He hopes to announce another top 20 player soon, and there is speculation that world number 13 and former winner Jiri Novak could return, while other targets include former world number one Marat Safin, and former champion Greg Rusedski.

I think, beeing Marat he doesnt even know himself yet which tourneys he will play ;)
But as Jessi said, Hopman Cup and AO are sure and then he always plays Auckland or Sydney.
I hope he will make a smart decision about his whole year scedule.

I heard a rumour about him playing Vina del Mar in February, but I hope it isn't true. I want him to come to Rotterdam ;)

Jessi
12-13-2003, 07:39 PM
Ilhame, hopefully its just a rumour and he comes to Rotterdam to accept your proposal ;)

Jessi
12-13-2003, 07:40 PM
Ilhame, I read on wx that you're feeling a little bit under the weather. Hope you get well soon sis

Cris
12-13-2003, 08:34 PM
Hope Ilhame can be fine.

maratski
12-22-2003, 09:46 PM
I will propose if he comes to Rotterdam, I swear ;)

Jessi
12-24-2003, 09:23 AM
Ilhame, what a coincidence that the year you plan to propose he decides not to show up ;)

maratski
12-24-2003, 01:34 PM
I know

Jessi
12-24-2003, 07:57 PM
Seriously though, i hope Vina del Mar is just a rumour and he comes to Rotterdam so you can see him play :)

maratski
12-24-2003, 08:26 PM
Honestly I'm afraid his ranking will not allow him to play in Rotterdam, but he just needs to be a man and ask for a wildcard ;)

Jessi
12-24-2003, 10:09 PM
I believe Marat has asked for wildcards before. ;)

Maybe he just wants to try something different. Every year he ususally plays the same tournies maybe next year he wants to mix it up a bit and go to places he's never been before.

maratski
12-24-2003, 10:15 PM
I'm sure he loves to go to lots of different places, but the European indoor circuit is better for him I believe. I think it's better to make a transition to outdoor hard from there and that means he'll be better prepared for the big tournaments in IW and Miami.

Jessi
12-24-2003, 10:44 PM
I agree. The only reason i see him playing Vina del mar is he's being offered a hugh appearace fee ;)

maratski
12-24-2003, 10:55 PM
That's very likely to happen.

Did you know that in 2001 he got like 100k to come to Rotterdam?

maratski
12-24-2003, 10:56 PM
And he lost in three sets to Mirnyi in the first round. He was wearing that blue/green outfit he wore for the first time in Lisbon 2000. I was there ;)

Jessi

That's very likely to happen.

Did you know that in 2001 he got like 100k to come to Rotterdam?

No, i didn't. But if they're willing to pay him then why not? ;) I heard Agassi got something like 400K to go play Shanghai in 2001. He also lost first round. :p

maratski
12-25-2003, 10:25 AM
In 2001 there was a huge discussion about Krajicek asking 150k to appear in Rotterdam and the tournament director thought it was too much for him. They said that Marat, who was ranked 2 in the world, didn't even get that much. There was a rumour about him getting around 100k. In the end Krajicek didn't even play because of injury.
Some players get a lot indeed, but I wonder if you can really earn that 400k back that you pay someone like Agassi ;)

He's not worth it ;)

Shadow

I really hope Marat will come to Rotterdam, so you can see him playing Ilhame :)

Shadow
12-25-2003, 06:04 PM
He didnt announce his scedule for 2004 yet, so its not sure. But he played there the last 2 years so i think he will play there next year also.

maratski
12-25-2003, 06:08 PM
Lyon is pretty far in the season so I don't think he already knows about that. Besides with the Olympic Games this year schedules are kinda mixed up. Patience is all there is now.

ikisssafin
12-25-2003, 06:08 PM

Cris
12-25-2003, 07:32 PM
That's wonderful! :yeah:

I'd like to go to Brasil Open, but I think it won't be possible. It's too far away from here, too expensive, will be on same week of Carnaval and I'll travel to another place.
Maybe 2005, I can go. :)

Shadow
12-25-2003, 07:41 PM
Hope it will work for you in 2005 :D

Cris
12-25-2003, 07:51 PM

Cris
12-25-2003, 08:01 PM

Here is the same, only after 18, you can have your driver license. I think only in USA people have driver license with 16.

Shadow
12-25-2003, 08:04 PM
i wish it was like in the USA here ;)

Cris
12-25-2003, 08:08 PM

I didn't know that about Krajicek. Seems strange to demand money to play at your home tournament.
