I remember when the AO draw was being made, there were people in Australia watching the ceremony and they were kinda giving the match-ups one by one.

VS Jose Acasuso or Q...
then Dr. Ivo or hot sauce Verdasco :tape:
then given Andy pulls through, Robredo/Andreev/Tursonov :tape:
then Andre/James or Haas :tape:
then Rafael/Baggy
then Fed....

I have a feeling Andy will fall to Ivo :o
after that I think most likely it'll be Igor or Dmitri... Tommy R's not playing too well...
then Haas or Andre or James... hard to choose between them...
and by then I don't think it'll matter :ras:

If rankings are respected these matches would be the quarter finals:

(1) Federer vs. (6) Ljubicic
(4) Nalbandian vs. (5) Davydenko
(8) Agassi vs. (3) Roddick
(7) Gaudio vs. (2) Nadal

Lets just put it this way - he can do to Andy in IW what he did to him at FO last year (if he feels like it that is).

Depends upon which sets you are talking about. :) First two sets Jose looked like he was drunk and then came some beautiful tennis. That could be a really good match.

Haas, Blake, and Agassi in the same quarter seems packed. A Haas/Blake match would be great.

Hey, when I saw the draw I thought it looked a little small for a TMS, until I scrolled down.

I was looking for Nadal and Hewitt thinking "what the hell is up with this unfinished draw".

Then I was like "Yep. I'm an idiot".

It's nice to have a TMS event with just about everyone playing. Makes for some really good matches in the rd of 32 and rd of 16 not to mention the later rounds.

When you look at this draw you see how good the quality of tennis is in the mens game. Sure there may not be any other guys to rival Rafa and Roger but in a tournament like this there will be a tough match for everyone by the 3rd round.

rofe
03-07-2006, 10:46 PM
Seems like both Fed and Nadal have it easy until the 4th. After that, it gets quite interesting. Fed could potentially meet Gasquet or Hrbaty (2-0 against Fed). Nadal could potentially meet Radek or Seb which could turn out to be interesting.

Andy should in theory make it to the QF without breaking a sweat but with his current form, every match could become a heart-breaker.

Blake, Haas and Andre have the toughest section and I have no idea who will prevail by the 4th round.

Hewitt has to contend with potentially Berdych in the 3rd and Marcos in the 4th so he is going to have a tough time as well.
