That's some tough luck for Marcos. I hope he wins this one, but it's gonna be very difficult. He should stand up and say "Nobody beats Marcos Daniel four times in a month!" :p

I hope Mascos can do it. He finally won a match this year, so I guess he will have more chances today.

I feel sorry for Daniel - but Nico needs the points.

Nico's very tired so if Daniel is ever going to beat him, it will be tonight.

Marcos Daniel (BRA) def. Nicolas Massu (CHI) 6-4 6-4

The greatest win by Daniel in his whole career. First time he reaches quarterfinals at ATP level. :yeah:

Yeah, he took advantage of Massu's tiredness, but a win is a win.

Marcos! His Latin America swing was the best among the Brazilians (in points). He will return to his number 1 position of Brazil. Let's see if he will hold it, and if Fino will call him for DC.

Congrats, Marcos! That's a great win. Hope he's gained some confidence not only to play Massu the next few times, but also to go a bit further in the tournaments he enters. Good luck in the QF!

 Too bad for Nico but of course he must be tired. He's had such great success on the Latin swing so I'm glad he'll have time to rest before IW. Congrats to Daniel-it had to be intimedating to play Nico for a 4th time after 3 consecutive losses to him.

Yes, in 4 consecutive tournaments. Viná del Mar, Buenos Aires, Costa Do Sauipe and now Acapulco.

Massu is responsible for three of the 5 losses by Daniel in ATP tours this year. :o

Daniel is Brazil's number one, he deserved to be in the team. And Mello is playing his worst tennis in years. Ricardo's spot could be used, but I also don't think it will occur.

I'm late in congratulating Daniel because having troubles getting into MTF the last couple days.

But better late than never.

Congrats to Daniel! I felt sorry for him getting Nico 4 times.

Nico was tired but that doesn't take away from Daniel's win. Nice to see the young kids get the win against an established player.

(But next time Nico won't be tired, and Nico will win again. ;) )

Yes, that's why I don't think Marcos will be in Ecuador. But I would be pleased to see him there.

Sorry, for some reason from the posts I thought he was a young up and coming Brazilian.

Thanks for the correction.

Well let me amend that - its nice to see up and coming players trying to get higher in the ATP rankings beat an established player now and again.
