So, I guess it is safe to say, his run during summer 05 was a bit of a fluke.

I am upset about this loss. Robby I really thought turned a corner last year with his invincible summer and fall in 2005. He really needs a break...maybe see a sports psychologist..I honestly believe he is losing these matches..due to mental errors..not because his opponents are playing better. He is clearly the superior player. But all is not lost..the year is young still hopefully he can pull it together...

Ginepri is the hardcourt version of the clay grinder so he has to be very consistent to win his matches. He doesn't have one or two great weapons to tide him over a dip in form.

Endurance my son.

What makes you think that he didn't have anything left for the third set? Winning the second set must have given him a lot of motivation, IMO. ;)

Robby is just wierd like that. He will take sets off and come back and play stronger than ever the next.

You can't deny he would have been in better shape to handle a third straight set than Goldie.

You can't deny he would have been in better shape to handle a third straight set than Goldie.I can. That's a ridiculous statement. What's your proof? Goldstein is in great shape. You kidding me? He would not have had a problem going three straight.

Robby didn't look like he wanted to be on court today at all. Extremely disappointing "effort" (or lackthereof) from him. 11 errors in the first 4 games alone, if I recall correctly. :o.

Like when Gremelmayr won the third set against him at the AO?

That wouldn't have been a factor. The difference in fitness isn't that significant. If anything, the rain delay gave Ginperi a reprieve from the momentum gained by Goldstein. Too bad he didn't take the opportunity to regroup.

In retrospect we might look back and think that leading 2 sets to love and up a break in the third set in the A.O and then not winning that match was key to a slow meltdown for Robi this year

Ginepri was acting like a child on the court. Regardless, Goldie's going to have his hands full going up against the living legend, SPADEA. :p

He's the Tennis Channel's biggest star. I'm sure we'll get some coverage of him wandering about the grounds again today :yeah: Actually, screw the ump cam, they set up a Spadea cam around his hat. :p

Goldstein played well to win the match. But I honestly think it was Ginepri just mentally he gets too down on himself. I think the loss at the Australian Open really took away Ginepri's confidence. And I don't understand why it did...He needs to remember all the tough matches he won last summer and fall of 2005..and how he fought so hard to win those matches...He could of definitely won this match...He needs to go back and see his sports psychologist...He needs therapy...

Best summation of Mr. Ginepri ever.

Hardly!!! Robby barely won the first set but Goldy was all over him in the second and third sets. Robby acted like he didn't want to be there. Most of his balls went into the net or over the baseline. He looked bored and uninterested. I wish he would go back to square one and re-think his game. Or, maybe he doesn't really have a game to re-think. Maybe 2005 was a total fluke. Maybe Robby is just a top 50 player who got lucky.

I'm so disgusted with him. He doesn't deserve me as a fan.
