I haven't ventured to ESPN for a long time, but I would bet that their boards have the biggest number of idiots. Tennis-x has the highest quality of idiots. Tennis Week is okay, just poorly formatted. Tennis Warehouse was good for two years but recently dipped with a 'myspace' aura around it. BBC is mostly harmless.

ESPN it is.

I don't go to ESPN, BBC, or Tennis Week, but the boards I voted for all have their share of 'tard-ness. :o This is why I hide out here in the player forums on MTF, because we're all united in a shared love of certain players.

BBC and MTF are the only ones I know. I use to post a lot on BBC but I gave up a few months ago. It's 60-70% Female tennis and posters who dream about having sex with Sharapova  It also focuses too much on British players

GM is much better because there are fans from all over the world. You get a worldwide perspective on tennis. Every player has fans on these messageboards so you can get everyone's point of view.

I've wandered into the ESPN boards once or twice and it's like stepping in dung. A truly horrendous place to discuss anything.

The BBC boards are very bad. I had signed up for them a while back before they "upgraded" the boards and now it's like watching what the cat drags in. Very British-centric but the boards are also so confusing that I don't even bother posting there anymore. I can't even read them.

And I can't believe I voted in this thing but forget to check off Tennis-x! God, these morons are unbelievable.

I think I'll use this thread to post my x-cursions, that way you guys can read some of the stuff without having to venture over there. I'm now attacking someone named mimi over there, who apparently thinks she's got the inside track to how Roddick really thinks.

di-10S wrote
fatigue translates loosely to- i'm embarrassed that i can't get past these lower-ranked players, my game isn't working, my coaching situation is questionable and i think if i'm going to Vegas i'd rather hit the casinos and i'm fatigued just thinking about it............

tangerine replied
Of course it would make perfect sense for Roddick to overplay and fatigue himself further by playing the Tennis Channel, which would have been his third tournament in a row, one week before he has to defend his IW semifinal points.

But please continue to showcase your tennis genius, tennis-xers, the view from here is terrific.

mimi wrote
ok genius, if Roddick was so worried about overplaying before defending his semi IW points (which by the way is not going to happen if he keeps up his sterling level of play), why did he originally sign up for Las Vegas in the first place? It's not about his fatigue. As I said earlier, he doesn't want to risk losing to another no-name/up-and-comer before he has to at IW.

He's been losing so early in events this year, he hasn't had the opportunity to become tired physically.

tangerine responded
Hello, McFly. Roddick also played hard in Davis Cup where he hurled his cookies, remember? Right after that it was on to the SAP Open. And then immediately after that it was Memphis. Then he was due for the TTC Open and then straight to IW after that. No breaks in between to recover his mind or body from the constant playing.

Players tend to commit to many tournaments, because they don't know how far they will go in each one. Had Roddick crashed out much earlier in Memphis, he likely would've stayed on to play the TTC Open to get in the match practice before IW. He's also a huge draw in the states and is under enormous pressure to commit to these US tournaments. Roddick has a hard time saying "No" when he should. Clearly, in your warped mind, you agree with the LV Mayor that this makes him a phony.

And god forbid a player should want to regroup after several bad losses to try to salvage his points at IW, which are far more important. You guys make it sound like he's one selfish asshole. Grow a brain already.

BTW, Tommy Haas has also just pulled out of The Tennis Channel Open. I wonder what idiotic comments tennis-x and its moronic posters like yourself will say about it?

AOL has tennis boards? Are they free? I dumped my AOL account a while ago.

Another board I found that is pretty lame is Eurosport's. They're Eurocentric but not as bad as the BBC. They seem to spend most of their time ranting about Eurosport's crummy tennis coverage. Eurosport's coverage is a lot worse than ESPN's.

blosson, I didn't add the ar.com boards to the list because I was trying to think of general tennis messageboards, not fan boards.

The fan boards over at Federer's site used to be as bad as ar.com's but both groups seem to have matured a bit in the past year. Neither are as teenyboppery as they used to be.

---------

Continuing from the "Andy's pullout" thread in tennis-x, mimi responded to me and I responded in kind:

Tangerine, is there no end to your distorted views on anything having to do with Roddick? Obviously, he's your favorite and all, but you seem to lack the ability to find any fault with him.
There's plenty of faults with him and if you think all I do is "kiss Roddick's ass" than you, or Beer Me or whoever, needs to take a remedial reading class if you actually get this idea from my blog.

From what I've seen here so far, none of you have fingered any of Roddick' weaknesses, all you do is whine about stuff that doesn't matter, such as him pulling out of tournaments and actling like it's a crime against God and nature. I've never seen any discussion on this board that actually examines a players' game. All you people do is snark all day long trying to one-up each other to show how clever you all are. I come in here to stir things up and give you a different perspective and now people are whining that they need an "ignore" feature here because they can't handle a different opinion that doesn't live to bash on Roddick, Hewitt, or any of your other favorite targets. Aw.

Each time a player loses, tangerine, the "upside" is that he/she has extra time to rest for the next event. Roddick, therefore, hasn't simply gone from tournament to tournament start to finish. He hasn't gone deep in that many tournaments this year, so there shouldn't be any fatigue...He's had breaks, not "constant playing."
Traveling to and from different tournaments is also fatiguing. Firing a coach you like and then having to wing it in tournaments is mentally fatiguing. Losing badly is mentally fatiguing and it takes a while for an unconfident player to recover from that. There are so many other factors at work here besides the physical aspect.

And again, there is no reason why Roddick should play DC and also three tournaments straight which would jeopardize his IW points. He probably won't successfully defend his points anyway but at least he's giving himself a head start and some time to regroup. This is not a lame excuse. It's a smart move on his part and Bellamay should have expected Roddick's pullout.

I do agree that Roddick complaining about the schedule and then overscheduling himself is questionable logic on his part and makes him look like a hypocrite.

Stop taking the Roddick attacks so personally. It really makes you look quite foolish in your constant attempts to "defend his honor." I must say it is entertaining however.
I don't take attacks against Roddick personally. My goal is to correct incorrect information from tennis "news" sites and their sheep posters who believe everything they read.

I'm glad I entertain you. The feeling is mutual. Tennis-x was boring until I came along and pissed everyone off. I like it here so I'll be staying for a while. Get comfy. 8)

In their "news" section:

What will be Andy Roddick's fine for pulling out of Las Vegas over the weekend, leaving the Roddick-centric tournament hanging in regard to their full-on-Andy press of advertising?

Posted today March 2
There will apparently be no fine for Andy Roddick citing fatigue in pulling from the ATP stop in Las Vegas as, according to ATP rules, players can miss one International Series event and one International Series Gold event citing illness, and two Masters Series events citing a malady during the year.

He really seems to care now and that's good. I also like the replay thingy. It seems to help Andy not to get too stressed about bad calls even if he's wrong.
He challenged twice today and he was right once and wrong the second time

I'm being repetitive but if he seems to care it makes me care too.

At least many of them play the sport which I can't say about the people here.

Hey now, nothing wrong with not playing tennis. Or being able to, rather. :P

Noelle, I can't say I've visited that place often so I can't really judge, but as far as I can see it you're better off without them. If you can't even survive there then there really is no hope for the rest of us.

Since I don't visit any of the other options in the poll I won't vote, even though I'd love to vote for the folly of the Croatards and the 'Federer is GOD' idealists.

Oh, and you know Roddick is nolonger - still not? - a threat to Roger when the Fedtards start praising bad matches of his.

Anyone else notice latest breakout of Roddick ass sucking going on? Roddick beats Gonzales - "Roddick Steps Up" says bodo. "He answered a lot of questions about where he's headed this year" says P-mac. His coach/brother says the positive effect from these two wins will last.

What the fuck? The #4 player beats the #18 player on his favorite surface and he's turned some corner? What's next he makes the finals of Houston and he's a three way favorite for the French with Nadal and Federer.

Hey. A new x-tard to kick around. Cool.
Get back to us with that dimwitted question when you've watched more than a week's worth of tennis, mmkay?

Suggestion: when you use "x-tard" and "get back to us" in the same post you're pretty much revealing yourself, as much as you might like to think otherwise.

Thank you for putting me in my place, consafos. I've been needing it.
