Do the following players really still deserve their own forum?

Do the following players really need their own forum?

Nicolas ' I only play challengers now but still have my own forum' Lapentti
Karol 'I take drugs but am still crap' Beck
Mariano 'my career is over' Puerta
Albert 'have I actually retired?' Costa
Alex 'no-one posts in my forum because I don't play anymore' Corretja

I don't mean to be cruel, but it's a waste of space. How about ditching these forums and giving a forum to the likes of Santoro, the Bryan twins etc.

:ras: It´s something they/their fans earned time ago. You ARE cruel
In this case there´s no need to take something away from someone to give to others ;)

Where´s Fabrice´s forum???! :bounce:

Should we have forums for Bjorn Borg, Rod Laver, and Arthur Ashe as well then? :p

I want forums for: Juan Martin del Potro, Jarkko Nieminen and Marcelo Rios. However John Mac wouldn't be bad as well and Michał Przysiężny deserves a thread in General Messages far more than Adam Chadaj.

Lapentti is injured and was forced to pull out of a lot of ATP tournaments this year (yeah, not challengers). Give him and his fans a break.

I personally think players that are officially retired shouldn't have a Forum unless a special site was established here at the MTF for retired players. But the last time I said that I got jumped onto by somebody so I haven't said anything else about it  For some reason here at the MTF I have found that if you don't agree with people that they are inclined to personally go after you instead of just accepting the fact that they don't feel the same way you do

I am glad you agree with me :) And I do think it would be nice if there was a special place in the MTF for players that are retired

I actually agree with you, Adam. While I understand the fans of these players have done some "intense lobbying" (I use this term loosely), there are other players who are equally deserving of their own forum.

If the Puerta decision is final with no appeals etc. I do think the Forum should be closed. However, if he is appealing the decision and there is any chance that things could change I think the Forum should remain open until everything is final.

I still can't help but to admire anyone that can put a lot of posts on a Forum. I love to post, but I can't post the way some of you can! I'm not even close

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to adee-gee again.

And don't forget the useless Guillermo Garcia-Lopez Message Board. Total number of threads: 3.

The number of fans: 1/2.

Well GGL isn't too well known. But he did get a win over Andre so he may be on his way up :) And I have posted in his Forum so while there aren't many threads in the Forum there are some posters in there. I think what would make that Forum look better is if they posted threads for each of GGL's Tournaments. But I guess they like things the way they are doing it!

I have no real gripe with any of these players having forums, but there does seem to be something wrong when retired and, perhaps even more egregiously, suspended players have forums but other active and successful players' forum requests are either being ignored or denied for no good reason

A problem that I see when closing a forum would be what to do with this forum. Deleting would be easy, but I mean, the things that got posted there shouldn't get lost.

But he has a FORUM, for crying out loud!!! Santoro, Nieminen? NO. And I don't understand why.

Sorry don't ask me I don't set up the Forums, but I do agree with Neely what is to be done with the Forums that are closed  Maybe the MTF would have to establish a section for closed Forums, if this could even be done?

Deboogle!.
02-21-2006, 03:57 PM
If some of these forums have so few threads they could easily be put into the country forum or whatever.

Mind you I'm not necessarily advocating their closure, I don't see any harm in just letting them stay there inactive and dormant.

What bothers me is that they're allowed to stay there but forums that have a lot of support and would be friendly active forums are getting denied for what are, IMO, illogical reasons.

All I know about Forums is that I love to post in them so I'm in the dark here. But maybe it is just a question of space. With all the players that do have Forums here, how much space is left over to create new Forums?

Jogy

Don't complain about getting no forum. When I see stupid forum request like SANTORO it is good that admin give no forum because people are only crying for not getting a forum, but they are not active and show support for him because Santoro has almost no posts in French player forum. Maybe 50 in total. And you want a forum, let me laugh now?

Deboogle!.
02-23-2006, 02:43 PM
Well not all of the forum requests are like that. The Bryan Brothers thread has over 1000 posts in it and we still can't get a forum, so yes it is a little frustrating when there are forums with 3 threads or for suspended and retired players and we are denied just b/c they are a doubles team.

As long as the forums have active posters there, I don't have problems they stay, no matter the status of the player.

I agree that retired players should have a section of their own.

As for suspended players, each case should be separatedly analysed. Puerta will likely retire if he can't reduce his sentence and Canas can return this year in case he gets to reduce it. As for Beck, what exactly has he done to deserve an own forum? But since it's already been created, leave it the way it is.

BTW, Adam, I didn't see you asking to have Nadal's forum deleted when he was temporarily off the courts. ;)

Well Santoro got his Forum and the Bryans got their Forum now. And I haven't heard of any Forum being closed/deleted so at least I guess we still have rooms for Forums to be created :)
