Breaking news -though it was to be expected- Marcos enters the main draw, because of Safin's official withdrawal. You can check the official site of the event.

Marcos is set to play Mario Ancic first round - it's quite a tough first round, and unfortunately one of them has to lose, but good luck to both anyway!

My that is a tough Match. Not only for the players, but for the fans. I think both Mario and Marcos are very nice, but only one can win  So I will just wish them both Good Luck

Pame Marcos :rocker: ! Hard match, but Mario has not been too consistent this year, so Marcos has a good chance. :yeah:

Well, I haven't checked the tv schedule, but as far as I remember, they were to show evening's matches. So I have strong hopes to be able to see that match. Allez Marcos!! :bounce:

First tournament back and nothing to lose in the form of rankings, but now he has made a mark and things are a bit different, but what happens will happen.

I'll content myself with Gasquet vs Clément. It's already better than nothing. But allez Marcos!!

Thank you for the translation :) I was very sorry to learn of Marcos' loss  And, of course, people are already starting to make comments that Marcos' run at the AO was just a fuke  But I'm sure Marcos will come back and be better than ever :) I just think he needs more time on the Pro Tour.

A fluke, the guy saved 5 match points and came back from 2-5 down in the 2nd set to take it into three.....it is that game in the third set were he failed to break when he was 0-40 up on Mario's serve....I think it is a great match from Marcos and I hope he does well, the guy is a magician....I watched all games on the net pretty good and fast amazing link......I still feel this is Marco's big year and I know he wont let us down(his fans)....the guy is a show man he gets power from people....having a match so late just ruined it for him....almost everyone was asleep.....better luck and better draw next week Marcos......

Action Jackson

Yes, it's a great link from the tournament site and from what I heard from good sources that in the last set Mario was serving like a monster and was next to impossible to break him and this was a tough first round match for sure.

It's not like he is going to win every match just cause of what happened in Melbourne and it's not a sprint and there still plenty of work he needs to do.

Choupi
02-16-2006, 09:33 AM
I guess we all know here that Marcos is no fluke, as we are all aware that he can't win every single match. He's battled hard, like he's used to, but sometimes, the guy in front of you just battles stronger and finally wins. It's just the way things go. I am absolutely not disappointed by that result. Marcos needs to learn, and defeats are part of the process.

tough first rounder, but he fought , and he'll be winning again soon :)

He must be playng under huge pressure.. Cyprus, the Pres. who post[oned military service, expectaions from everyone. Tough for a 20 year old. Safin found it really tough after he won USO 00, and didn't recover for several years...he said it was to much for him and he was too young.

Marcos luckily has a huge family who will help him. And his coach seems good, and he he has a nice girfriend, Ela Marcos,

Better luck next week Marcos  Mario in good days can be very hard to beat and seems like yesterday was one of those. It's all a matter of experience IMO. I don't think player should win a title in the first event they enter. It all comes along with experience (of course if the player works hard and wants to learn from defeats, but Marcos isn't a headcase, unlike many pf my favs in my sig  )

Marcos got a bye in first round, and he'll play either Bjorkman or Christophe Rochus then.

Isn't this cause for a Big Celebration? Both his first Masters Tournament & the first time he's seeded on tour? A big jump in one yr. - from not being highly enough ranked to enter qualies, to being seeded :)

I think so also. I will tell you why I like a thread for each Tournament. 1. If someone just wants to know how Marcos did in a certain Tournament they can go right to the thread that is Titled for that Tournament and just read that thread rather than having to view page after page to get to the Tournament they want to read about. 2. In a new Forum like Marcos' it makes your Forum look larger.
It took awhile to get this Forum I know because I was one of the people who requested it so you want to show that
his Forum is busy and active. These are just my thoughts on the subject I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings that think differently on the subject.

I agree with Mae on this one :) As this thread becomes very long, it will be hard to find a specific tournament.
