He is 70th at the moment and it is his career best. :worship: :worship: :worship: I hope he could reach top50 very soon and that is important for playing biggest tournaments without quallies.

This could be thread about Nole`s points and ranking, how much points he has to defend...

Does that mean you understand the entry race, because I don't know how all the points from last year-this year work etc

There are two lists entry list and race. Race is not so important because this is important only for Masters cup in Sanghai and I think Nole is not interested in it this year (maybe next ;) ) and there is counting only four GS, nine tournaments from masters series (IW, Miami, Monte Carlo, Rome, Hamburg, Toronto, Cincinnati, Madrid and Paris) and five best other tournaments and it counts from the start of season...

More important is entry list because it is counting for entry lists and best from this list is seeded on tournaments. This list includes results from last 365 days.

I guess first points Nole has to defend are from last year Belgrade tournament (qf - 14 points) and if anyone knows all results from last year it would be nice to put it here (I know he has to defend 50 points in RG).

Wimbledon (week 25) 90

US open (week 34) 75

Five tournaments from last year is missing, I don`t know where he played and what results he made...

Cincinnati is missing, where he lost in the first round to Gonzalez... he gets points for qualifying and losing in the first round though... I think. I think he also gets something for losing in the last round of qualifying in Montreal. I'm awful with the ranking system so I will be of no help in this thread.

For those who don't know what's going on here:

This chart reflects players totals minus points they will lose this week. In other words these would be the next rankings if none of these players gained any points this week.

"18th" refers to the lowest counting optional tournament score. A player would have to earn morn ranking points than his "18th" in order to improve his overal total.

I will make every attempt to update this list (at least) nightly, after the close of play. I won't add points until players actually take the court, in case there are withdrawls.

Lastly, this chart will not reflect movement in or out of the top 100. So, Mariano Puerta will probably drop out of the top 100, but he'll stay on this chart (for this week).

Okay. Next match is worth 50. That would put him 641 total...

So, a win would put him at 58-60, on Friday night.

Here's my final, final thought of the week.

Withdrawing from Dubai means Novak won't be improving his standing on the Monte Carlo Masters entry list, which is due out the opening week of Indian Wells.

Last year...dah! Sasha Cohen's on my T.V.

Anyway, last year the Monte Carlo list started with the top 52 getting direct entry, but withdrawls made the final cut 66th ranking. So it should be a squeaker to see if Nole can avoid the qualies for that important tournament.

No. And he's still got two empty slots in his portfolio, meaning he's counting 16 tournaments only.

Next points he'll have to defend will be during the Davis Cup week (10 points).

Yes, and that makes him harder to keep track of. I don't have any stats right now for the other 101+ players, but I included Tipsarevic so I could tell his status relative to the top 100. If that makes any sense.

All I have to say, is that with Goldstein's recent successes it makes Nole's loss look a tad less pathetic than it was a month ago.

So after this early loss Nole will play qualies for Monte Carlo for sure and if he wants to be in the MD for Rome and Hamburg he desperately needs some extr result in Miami (probably 4th round or even qf). This would be very hard and I guess that Nole will play qualies for every Masters tournament until FO.

The Rome main draw will use the pre-Miami rankings. A nice run in Miami would help for Hamburg, but that's the only other tournament he'll play before the Hamburg list is made. Both tournaments take the top 52 on their original entry lists. It seems that Nole is fated to play the qualies at both.

I should have explained my new chart-ology. The top of the chart is how far Nole can get if the wins the tournament. This week 31.

The bottom of the chart goes down to included all the people who could catch up to Novak.
