I'm happy that Tommy is back in the Top Twenty again :D I would guess the reason he doesn't play that many Tournaments is the injury bug that seems to attack Tommy so often  :bigcry:

Of course it's nice but he needs to win some matches now...His results since L.A. show a clear decline. He'll stay in the Top 20 until Roland Garros. I really hope that he can win some matches in Basel and Paris to launch the new year at full force!!!

Well Tommy did finish the year at #17. When you consider his age, all the illnesses, injuries, etc. he has had his ranking isn't bad at all :)

When you consider his age, all the illnesses, injuries, etc. he has had his ranking isn't bad at all :)Also pretty awesome when you consider he started the year at #80. Which makes me wonder just what in the heck he can do next year when he'll start off the year at #17!

Well I didn't know it, but apparently we do have a prophet among us! Tommy's ranking has already dropped to #19 and we know due to injury it will drop a lot more  But to look on the bright side Hewitt made it back to the tour after hip surgery and we all know what a fighter Tommy is so I do expect him back on tour. And I hope this makes me a prophet ;)

As of 5/17/10 the ATP Site shows Tommy is ranked #23. That really isn't bad for as long as he has been off tour.

According to the ATP site he has committed to play in San Jose. I posted it in the news thread and that is the most I have seen.

Tommy's ranking is #200 according to the ATP site as of 7/11/11. I like the way the dates are done in Europe so I think I'll start using it :)

Mae
11-20-2011, 12:17 AM
Gee Tommy isn't even playing, but the movement of players around him has pushed him down 3 more places  So as 14/11/11 his Ranking was #203! I just put the title at ranking watch because Tommy's ranking has been all over the place  I can't officially edit the title of the thread because I did it under my deleted account :banghead:

I don't care about the ranking, he can use his proteced Ranking tillthe end february and if he plays like the end of the year, he will return to the top 100 till then!

As of 16/1/12 the ATP shows Tommy's Ranking is #190. I know he is playing under a protective ranking right now, but I don't know when it ends?

Wyna
01-21-2012, 10:02 PM
I found this
The Entry Protection shall be in effect for either the first nine tournaments that the player competes in using the Entry Protection (excluding wild cards and entries as a Direct Acceptance with his current position in the South African Airways ATP Rankings) or for the period up to nine months beginning with the first tennis event that the player competes in, whichever occurs first.

So the protected ranking can be used for either 9 tournaments or 9 months. How many tournaments did he play since his comeback?

Mae

Well I don't think we have to worry so much about Tommy's Ranking now. As of 18/6/12 according to the ATP Site Tommy is Ranked # 49 :yippee:

TennisFan2012

I'm sure he'll be happy to pick up enough points to be seeded, if he can. And, with the recent wins, he'll likely get more wild cards, so he can avoid qualifying rounds. No need to take any more injury (or loss) risks than necessary!

Mae

Well as of 9/7/12 according to the ATP site Tommy's ranking slipped a little to #52.

Well the ATP site has Tommy ranked at #25 as of 6/8/12 while on the site you gave he is #24! :yippee: I never dreamed he could get back that high in the rankings with all his health problems! But I'm glad he did :) And greedy me would like to see him go even higher :yeah:

TennisFan2012

Mae, he will go even higher after this week! He didn't play Canada last year so all of these points are net gains. The people just above him in the rankings have only a few more points than he does, and they could lose some. He played great in today's match against Simon.

Now he is up to #22 (8/18/12), and he's only a few points behind Roddick and Kohlschreiber. However, Tommy is not playing in Winston-Salem this week--but it's probably better for him to rest this week, than to try to pick up a few more points.

You must be looking at that other site not the ATP site because they only update on Mondays. And I agree it is better that Tommy gets some rest in!

No, I got that info at the ATP site.

Mae
08-26-2012, 08:36 AM
And that site is dated for Monday the 20th of August because the ATP only updates rankings on Monday. So I guess your date was wrong, but you did have the ranking right at #22 for Tommy :)

TennisFan2012

I probably mis-typed 8/18, when it was actually 8/19 evening, US time when I saw the ATP info and posted it here. The ATP site had been updated by then. That site is probably 6+ hours ahead of where I am. I certainly was not awake on 8/20 at 3 AM (the time of my post using the MTF site's datestamp), and I definitely am not psychic! :-)

And, it is currently Sunday around 4 PM at my house (8/26/12), but the ATP rankings for 8/27/12 have been posted. Tommy is now up to #21 (thanks to Roddick's not having a great week in NC and falling one spot).

Oh well the main thing is that Tommy's ranking is very good right now :) And I get confused by all these different time zones and datestamps it is all too much for me to keep track of

He's up one spot to #20:

Also, I like that he's had his website redesigned, because he's signaling he intends to stay around awhile :-):
