Finally I can't believe that I got back into Tommy's site to post! I have been having a lot of technical problems with this site  I'm glad Tommy will soon be playing again and a #4 seed isn't bad at all :)

16681
01-31-2006, 01:19 PM
Yes Tommy's Match will be the last one on the main court.
And since the time on the Match before his is not to start before 7 o'clock unless Robby has a really quick Match it will be night time U.S. time before Tommy even gets started. I do hope Robby will win his Match quickly, but you never know.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't heard of Kunitsyn! But I'm not going to say it will be easy for Tommy for fear of yet another unknown or little known player taking out a high seeded player. That has happened quite a bit recently and I don't want to see it happen to Tommy! I need a good German cheer for Tommy, but I don't know any German  So I guess I will just say Go Tommy :)

Well Tommy won the 1st set, but it was 7-6. I said I wanted Robby to hurry and win his Match so Tommy could get his Match started.
Well I guess Robby only heard the hurry his Match part because he lost. So the #2 seed is out already. The real time scoring at the Delray Beach site is very poor, but I guess it is better than nothing :)

16681
02-01-2006, 03:34 AM
Well in the 2nd Set it looks like 5-2 Tommy. I say it looks like because the site is so poor I can hardly read it! I can clearly see that Tommy has 5 games, but I'm alittle unsure of what the other player has. Tommy's name is on the bottom and for some reason the player that has their name on the bottom of the scoring site for their Match has print that is easier to read. Why I don't know?

16681
02-01-2006, 03:44 AM
:worship: Tommy Won :worship: The score was 7-6 and 6-2 (I believe. I said I believe because as I said that Delray site is so bad it was very hard to read, but I'm sure Tommy won). So I will just have to find another source to make sure of the score for you :)
Yes that was the correct score 7-6 and 6-2 ;)
So it is on to the 2nd Round for Tommy

First round can be difficult sometimes, but he did well overcoming it.
I hope he wins a few more rounds to come with big confidence to Germany for the difficult Davis Cup tie against France! ;)

I would like to see him win the Tournament :) That would certainly give him confidence for the Davis Cup. And I agree that Germany did get a tough draw in the Davis Cup

Tommy's Match tonight is scheduled not before 7 o'clock.
Since I live in the Eastern part of the U.S. it means again that Tommy's Match is late for me since the Tournament is on the West Coast. And I would guess it would be some awful time in Germany. So while the scheduling is bad for us it actually speaks well for Tommy. Tournaments at least here it the U.S. consider night matches as "featured matches" which means they normally have the players that they consider the best for the night matches :)Auf gehts Tommy

Delray Beach is in Florida, on the Eastern Coast of the United States. The official tournament website is www.yellowtennisball.com and they have a live scoreboard, if anyone would like to follow along for Tommy's match. It is scheduled to begin at 7 pm Eastern Standard Time. If you would like to know what time that is in your time zone, check www.timeanddate.com (use Miami as the nearest big city in the same area as Delray Beach).

Tommy's next Match is tomorrow starting not before 2:30 p.m. Tommy will be facing Gilles Muller. I don't think that many American tennis fans will forget that Muller knocked out Andy in the 1st Round of the 2005 U.S. Open.
So I hope Tommy will knock Muller out of Delray Beach! Auf geht's Tommy :)

I agree :) When Tommy cut his hair and changed his line of clothes I was like what happened to Tommy? I really didn't like it at all  And I must confess to having a bit of a "crush" on Tommy so I was crushed when it seemed like to me he had lost his good looks. But as the blue shirt picture clearly shows Tommy is still good looking ;) I guess it was too big of a change for me all at once. And boy did I get a scare today! I had wanted to follow, or at least try to follow, Tommy's Match on the live scoring at the Delray Beach, Florida site, but I didn't get to. So when I went into the results section of the site it said Muller vs.
Haas and then said 6-3 and 6-2! I just about fell over because I thought someone had forgotten to replace "vs" with "d" for defeated  So I thought Muller had beaten Tommy  But since the site seemed to be alittle mixed up I went to check the newspapers and :worship: Tommy
Won :worship: 6-3 and 6-2. Thank goodness

Well I hope Tommy takes each Match very seriously and feels like each Match is a new start. Because no matter what a player's record is against someone if the thought comes in I aways beat this guy so it is no big deal well the next thing you know "this guy" is the winner of the Match!
So I hope Tommy keeps his focus. And since Vince is from the U.S. I'm glad he is in the Semi-finals. I still hope Tommy beats him, but it is nice to see Vince doing well :)

Looks convincing :) Good effort Tommy!
His title chance is getting bigger and bigger.
But lets take it step by step, after all he's not Federer
Normally I would say that he is the best player left in the tournament now. Only Malisse on a good day can come close to Tommy's A-level, but Tommy won most matches with Malisse in the past quite easily, so this should also be in his favour... theoretically... but lots of things can happen, so every match has to be played before ;)

02-04-2006, 04:54 AM
In the U.S. we say on paper a team looks good and they should win or on paper a tennis player looks good and he should win. But then when the sport event is actually played, it doesn't always work out like you thought it would on paper. So we say that is why the game is played in real life and not on paper. There is always such a thin line between being over confident or not having enough confident. A player needs confident or it is likely that he will be beaten, but if the player gets over confident he is also likely to be beaten. Tiger Woods, the American Golfer, used to always talk about having his "A" game. But sometimes even a Pro Player doesn't always have his "A" game. So let's hope that Tommy has his "A" game going and will win this Tournament :)

It is still raining in Delray Beach. Play will not begin until
5:30 p.m. Note I have started to yet again have technical
problems here at Tommy's site. I reported this to Neely.
I don't know what the problem is? My equipment is clear so it is not corrupt files which is what Amanda thought it might be in her post at the Bug Reporting and Questions Site the last time people were having problems. I do not have the knowledge to know what the problems is, but I think it must be a problem on the MTF.

The last weather information from Delray Beach said play was going to start at 6 o'clock. I know one Semi-Final has already been played because I had a beat on that one and in my betting site it shows it as closed. And of course you might know I bet on the wrong player! GGL as he is called
beat the X-Man as he used to be known. GGL had had an excellent tournament since he also knocked out Andre. But I can't find out any information at all about Tommy  The ATP site doesn't shows the results.
The scoreboard at the Delray Beach site either isn't working or no one is playing. No stories are in the news yet about either of the Semi-Finals nor can I find any sports site that mentions the Tournament so I don't know what is going on

16681
02-05-2006, 01:06 AM
Gee I'm more mixed up than ever I found a site that said Vince was leading Tommy 3-2, but that site was showing that the other Semi-Final hadn't been played

From today's Tennis Reporters subscribers only news section: :)

Hot Haas wins Delray and looks up at Federer
By Sandra Harwitt, Special to TennisReporters.net

Tommy Haas is just about the hottest player on the ATP tour.

FROM THE INTERNATIONAL TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS IN DELRAY BEACH – If fans were to take a look at how the beginning of the year is shaping up on the men's tour, you can be assured that Tommy Haas' name would be at the top of the list.

Haas is cruising with an 11-2 record and picked up his first title since 2004 on Sunday with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5) victory over Xavier Malisse when the Belgian last shot came off a racket with a broken string.

And in case you haven't heard, his two losses have come against the best in the business, Roger Federer, who just won his seventh Grand Slam trophy at the Australian Open. It seems he has Haas under control just like he handles almost every other player he faces.

Haas certainly has come closer to answering the Federer puzzle than a lot of other players. He beat Federer at the Kooyong exhibition the week before the Australian Open started. But, as Haas reminded the media at Delray Beach, an exhibition is an exhibition is an exhibition.

Unfortunately for Haas, his win didn't come the two other times they've played this year at real tournaments, with Federer going on to win the titles at both Doha (they met in the semis) and the Australian Open (they met in the fourth round). "I got Roger to five sets at the Australian Open, but he took it to another level in the fifth set," Haas said. "I just hope I get a chance to play him again and see where my game is at."

When Haas and Malisse get together on court, fans are treated to a trademark demonstration of how a player is developed at the Bollettieri Academy.

Both of these two European players have spent the majority of their careers living in southwest Florida and training at Nick town – as it's frequently referred. Be assured, they are so Americanized that annoyances on the court result in barrage of self criticism, all spoken in English.

The good news for fans on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Delray Beach was that Haas and Malisse put on a show that is the best product Bollettieri produces. The match was so entertaining it seemed like the crowd of over 5,000 people barely noticed that top-seed Andre Agassi, playing in only his second event since reaching the US Open final, never made it out of the quarterfinals where he lost to Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

The shot-making sizzled and the power was so amped up the covers of the fuzzy yellow balls were at constantly at risk. Truth be told, it was nearly impossible to detect much of a difference in the level of Haas and Malisse's games in the final, and it was easy to see that both were determined to win their first title of the year. They looked so close in capabilities that it was hard to understand why Haas holds a commanding 9-3 lead over the Belgian in career meetings.

In the end, Haas picked up his eighth career title – his first since winning at Houston and LA in 2004. As for Malisse, his one career title in nine final outings came at the ITC in Delray Beach last year; he beat Jiri Novak in straight sets to hoist the trophy.

Haas was making his debut at Delray Beach, a tournament he entered in case he didn't last too long at the Aussie Open and because he wanted some extra match play before Germany's Davis Cup tie against France this coming weekend. Malisse might have only won the ITC title once in his career but he's certainly no stranger to success at the tournament. He's played the event on seven occasions and been in the final four times now. Maybe it's not Wimbledon or the US Open, but, for Malisse, it's a big event and his 20-6 record is the best of any other tour player that has ever entered the main draw.

"I heard the announcer say what he's done in the past here so I knew he was feeling really good at this tournament," Haas said. "So I'm more proud to beat him here."

The excitement for fans in the match is they truly couldn't tell who was going to win it until the last few balls were struck. Haas scored the one service break in the first set when Malisse, momentarily, allowed himself to be irritated by a few calls. The break came in the sixth game and Malisse squandered five game points before giving up his serve. In the second set, Malisse took advantage of Haas playing a loose eighth game to even the score at one set apiece.

After trading early breaks in the third set, it was down to the wire in a third-set tiebreak. Haas set the tone for his win on a forehand pass down the line that seemed to move at supersonic speed to give him his first match point at 6-4. Malisse held his own on the next point, but was taken out of the equation at 6-5 when his racket string snapped while he was hitting a forehand that landed beyond the baseline.

My equipment won't let me use much in the way of Avatars. The MTF has some standard pictures of some of the players. Those are the only ones I can use by myself. I wish 1. They would update the pictures and 2. they would add more players' pictures. There are 14 right now. The Avatar is not a great picture of even the "old" Tommy look, but it is the best I can do!
