Some news about Juan from the Aussie Open Website:

Hewitt in Federer's Half
by Scott Spits
Friday, 13 January, 2006

http://www.australianopen.com/images/pics/thumbs/t_jignaciochela_0113.jpg (http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/news/photos/imagepages/2006-01-13/200601131137120772497.html)

Lleyton Hewitt faces the prospect of having to overcome his nemesis, world No.1 Roger Federer, in the semi-finals of Australian Open 2006, if the top Australian is to realise his dream of winning his home Grand Slam tournament.

World No.4 Hewitt has been drawn on the same half of the draw as Federer, leaving big-serving American Andy Roddick to battle in a potential semi-final against world No.5 David Nalbandian.

In some mouth-watering first-round matches at the Australian Open, unseeded German Tommy Haas clashes with French young gun Richard Gasquet, emerging Brit Andy Murray takes on Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela, No.21 seed Nicholas Kiefer has drawn Thai Paradorn Srichaphan and Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean meets Australian wildcard recipient Mark Philippoussis.

While Hewitt, who lost the final last year in four sets to Russian Marat Safin, faces a potential semi-final clash with Federer, his path to the final four is littered with danger matches, including a likely quarter-final clash with Argentine world No.8 Guillermo Coria.

World No.4 Hewitt, who secured the No.3 seeding in the absence of young Spaniard Raphael Nadal, would meet the winner of the Murray-Chela clash in the second-round, providing the Australia overcomes Czech Robin Vik. Hewitt had a tough third-round clash against Chela at Melbourne Park last year, before the gritty local won in four sets after a sometimes-heated match.

Federer holds an 11-7 record against Hewitt, including nine straight victories. Hewitt has been eliminated from his past seven Grand Slam events by the eventual champion.

Federer, a six-time Grand Slam winner and champion at Melbourne Park two years ago, has four qualifiers in his quarter of the draw and faces potential quarter-finals against Russian Nikolay Davydenko or Slovakia's Dominic Hrbaty. The Swiss champion could also meet Gasquet or Haas in the round of 16. Haas defeated Federer at the Kooyong Classic this week.

World No.3 Roddick, who can only meet Federer in the men's final, clashes with a qualifier first up and is drawn to meet Croatian No.7 seed Ivan Ljubicic in the quarters. Other potential opponents for Roddick in the final eight include 2002 champion Thomas Johansson and Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.

There is a reasonable chance of an all-Argentine quarter-final with Nalbandian drawn to meet 2004 French Open winner and countryman Gaston Gaudio. But Gaudio must first overcome another Roland Garros champion, Spaniard No.32 seed Carlos Moya, in what would be an intriguing third-round match-up.

Other seeds drawn in Nalbandian's quarter of the draw include Croatian Mario Ancic (No.18), Spaniards David Ferrer (No.11) and Tommy Robredo (No.16), American James Blake (No.20) and Finland's Jarkko Nieminen (No.26).

The Haas-Gasquet match-up shapes as the first-round clash to watch. Haas, a two-time semi-finalist at Melbourne Park, meets the emerging No.14 seed who reached the fourth-round at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2005. 27-year-old Haas and 19-year-old Gasquet have never played.

Philippoussis, whose career has taken a turn for the worse since helping Australia win the Davis Cup in 2003, clashes with Grosjean in another much-awaited first-round match-up. The 29-year-old Australian holds a 3-2 record against the Frenchman, and his last victory came in the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2003.

Philippoussis's countryman and fellow wildcard recipient, 20-year-old Chris Giccione, has been drawn against No.7 seed Ivan Ljubicic in the first-round. American No.13 seed Robby Ginepri clashes with Austrian Jurgen Melzer.

CHELITAAAAAAAAAAAA!! :yeah:  :yippee: I haven't seen the match yet, I've got it taped and going to watch it right after Ferrero's match :) Unfortunately, I don't have the 1,5 set at the end... the tape wasn't long enough (because of the taped Szczecin challenger final grrrr) but I saw the match ball and Hewitt almost running to the locker room. And Chelita was so happy :) It's a wonderful day for me... Ferrero wins, Tipsarevic plays well, and Chela... unbelievable it is what he has done today :)

CONGRATS JUANCITO AND KEEP IT UP :yeah:
